iv had a mk4 eclipse (1.3) for about a year and its my first car. never broke down or had trouble with it and its used every day pretty much. its unrefined compared to modern cars and is far from quick but will cruise at over motorway limits easy enough. lot of bad un's out there though and rust is pretty much guaranteed on a car thats at least 12 yers old now!!! even mine!! parts are as cheap as youll get and servicing is easy to do yourself!!!good on fuel too!!!! costs peanuts to run and has been faultless reliability wise but the other side of the coin is that its slow and feels 12 years old.

I've got a Mk4 XR3i, bought a year ago for £600. Was supposed to be an in between car but I think its love!Previous to this had a heap of rubbish k-reg astra which cost me about £1000 in repairs over a year so my xr3i has proved to be a breath of fresh air! Interior and bodywork as new, but very minor rust behind bumper. Engine sound but suspension is a bit knackered - needs new shocks. However I still class this as the best all rounder I have yet owned. It looks good, its quick and its good on fuel/oil. Done 104000, do 104000 more!

I have owned a Mk3 Escort Cabriolet for 6 months and I love it to bits. It's a super little car which performs beautifully with an outstanding engine and great road-holding and cornering and out-performs many much newer cars. It has cosworth body styling and, despite being nearly 17 years old looks seriously cool.

I HAVE A FORD 1975 MK1 ESCORT IT IS LOWERED IT HAS A 1300 MOTOR WITH TWIN WEBERS AND EXTRACTERS IT PUTS OUT 250 HP I THINK THAT THEY ARE BETTER THAN HOLDEN COULD EVER DO
I have an N reg 1974, 1100cc Ford Escort Mk1. It's definetly the best model car in the world. What happened to Ford Escort Mk 3, 4, 5 etc?? I don't understand why the models got more rubbishy!! Ford Escort Mk1's have the best gearboxes. They are just so cool! I recommend it to anyone!
I got a nice little Esky.1600 capri eng, pacemaker eXtractors, walker exhaust sys, shorrock super charger and a comfy formualing steering wheel. 90-100KW

I've had my 85 B reg Escort since 1990 and I have to say the 1.3 litre engine is absolutley lousy at cold and damp starting, God forsake the thing! How much WD 40 has gone on the HT leads I don't know! The only reason I keep it is because it's cheap on insurance and it's so shabby it won't get nicked! It shows what a poor starter it is! In the past 10 years it's had 7 new batteries and 4 reconditioned starter motors. Beat that!

my mk1 only cost £30 yes £30!!! it has had a full restoration and has only done 17590 miles so it is in very good nick. after undergoing this resto it is a little 1100L with a 1300 carb and a sports exhaust it has 50bhp and is a little rocket!!!!!! although it has a slight flat spot at low revs ( it doesnt see low revs often)it has so far only done 85mph but it is still running in after a full rebuild and checkover of the running gear so i believe it to be one of the most attractive and fun cars ever built!

One of the best cars that ford have ever made, Give me twin 40's and a set of K&N's anyday. forget twinturbo bollox. Rear wheel drift is what i need. I still think that a MK1 escort is a great boyracers car, even the standard 1300e lump. The 1600 x-flow are pretty quick.

I like my escort mk4 because it cost me nothing. I have just put a new gear box in at a cost of £30, BMW owners eat your heart out. It came complete with 4mths tax and 11 mths MOT and it's done under 90,000. During te next six mths i will drive it approximately 8,000 miles, I will tell then how i got on.
