i own a 79 custom RS2000 with twin 40 delorts a mild cam and a 3.7 diff and it keeps up with just about any non turbo four, toughest car i have ever owned. It always starts and never stops although it does tend to get a bit hot. Awsome little car.

i got an 2001 esscort and its still asy to find parts for it. all you got to do is look around at the right time and right place.all of my parts are from the internet and when you go to cardomain.com. you'll understand what i mean. and to fix it up you got to get parts that will fit another car and make sure it can also fit your scort. so tats my advice to you from me.
I got myself a 1.3l D reg escort, and overall the car is sound as a pound to drive and can be done up easily, only problems are it's really slow on the straight and always havin trouble with rear lights (corrosion round contacts and all that). I agree with most though, a fun car to get around in.
I have a MK 1100 . Its currently undergoing extesnive work. Am trying to get a 2 litre/ 1.6 crossflow for it . Anyone help.

Have had it 2 years now and is the most reliable car I have had to date never any problems except for the usual escort thing of this age wheel arches.Apart from that will eat turbos and xr3i for breakfast as it should do.Mine has never been thrashed and I do not either,corners like a street going version of the rally car.

the escort eclipse is far superior to most others sin its price range, other models of escorts do not look as good and dont have e/w and c/l plus a factory fitted sunroof and xr3 spoiler, its group 4, perfect for any aged 17!!!

People are going to have to stop making comments on things they know nothing about! If you want a fast car, then get a sporty model, simple! I have an F reg Escort RS Turbo, and have owned it for 6weeks now, insurance is bad, reliability isnt great, but the fun factor more than makes up for it. I have replaced the alternator, shockers and turbo as well as other parts, but this is due to the pervious owner telling me a few porkie pies about it when I got it. Easy cars to tune, 200Bhp easily obtainable and with a car this weight you can imagine what that would be like! handling is good although control arms and bushes go quite often. inner wings, battery plate and spare wheel well are all common rust places, also be sure your fuel pump is well attached if your after a turbo! I would highly recommend the rs turbo, I have driven other mk4 escorts but wasnt greatly impressed, although perfectly fine foe someone not after a high performance car
I own a 1600 Ghia (4 Door) and a Group 4 spec rally car Mark2 - They are great car cars that are loads of fun to drive and easy to mechanic on - Both are real head turners, oh a the rally car is loads and loads of fun :)

i am bulgarian my escort mk4 is my 3 car ! its'old now 1987 1.6 diesel only ~ but i like it very much ! it had never let me at the road! one my friend says: ford-find on roaD dead! but i dont thin so cheap parts 5.0 /100 km diesel ! i had a golf 1 before and lada jiguli was my first but the ford is the best ! very pretty car ! yes there, minuses like when i start it at the cold morning theres a lot of noise and shakeing but for 5-10 minutes there is no problems ! i think that is more better than kadet's! i had 200 000 and the car is like new !

I've got a F plate 1.3L, and it's brought me loads of trouble. If you're looking to buy one, beware rust, my wheel arches are now more filler than metal. The Chassis rails are also starting to corrode so I'd recommend you look under the car. I've also had a water pump and a cylinder head core plug go on me, as well as headlights that sometimes don't work. However the car is generally easy to work on, there are some nice details to the design, a clutch change for example is easier than in a lot of other cars (can't blame my blown clutch on Ford though). Having said all that the roadholding and the ride are pretty good, and the feel through the wheel is superb, in the wet you'll be able to feel easily when the back end is going to step out. The 1.3 HCS is a bit gutless, don't expect to overtake anything quickly if you're doing over 45 to start with. However, it'll cruise on main roads in 5th quite happily and won't slow down too much on the hills. On the motorway it'll keep up with the traffic and do well over 40 to the gallon. In conclusion, it may be a touch unreliable but for £250 it's great fun to fling around country lanes.

ive just bought a Ford Escort MK4 Eclipse 1.3 with a fappin cossie transplant under the bonnet!!! if u do not believe me i will at the back of KFC car park at Merry Hill every Thursday and some sundays! it is 4 wheel drive and ive recorded a 5.2 0-60 time so far so good!

i brought my mk 4 1600 sport it thrapes 3i's for £200 it was standard then now its on the deck so it takes the bends like a dream, with focus rims turbo bumpers 1.3 gear box so it pushes turbos other extra mods. if u dont balive go down merry hill on sundays or thursdays...

I have a mk1 escort it has a fully worked 16oo with a turbo and intercooler side draft webbers it puts out 350 kw it pulls quarter mile in 11.10 I plan to get it to 10s by the way its a street car!!

mk 1 escorts aint at all bad, but i have a 1981 talbot sunbeam lotus remember them, rips the skids of any mk 1 u put infront of it, except the cosworth maybe :)
