On to my 3rd fiesta. Had two 1.1s and now onto a 1992 1.4 Freestyle. Its only got 44k on the clock and ive not had it long but ive noticed a hell of a difference in the fuel consumption. It drinks fuel!! Im only a poor student and im struggling to keep it going. Performance isnt what it says it is, and ride isnt too smooth. These things rust to bits if you dont look after them

I've got my first car a 1.0 maroon beast of a fiesta - it gets through gallons of oil - my drive is black from the leaks but i love it and it starts first time every time - its got a few probs and sounds like a tractor but its fab and it costs hardly anythin!

It hates hills!!!

I bought a 1.6 S fiesta over a year ago, first car (it was cheap). Its G reg so getting on a bit and needed £400 of welding on its second MOT with me (ouch!). Its done over 100,000 recently but still great to drive and interior is good. Quite nippy and is always nice to out accelerate better cars with bigger engines! Overall brilliant first car for a student with little money and who doesnt want something too slow to drive at weekends.

I'm now on my second mk1 fezzy.
Both have never let me down, my current one (a mk1 XR2) is the solid-est thing on wheels. It handles as well as my old mini and takes the bends far better than the newer mk2 XR2.
MOT time is a breeze, being made in germany means the car benefits from the same steel as ancient VW's.. hence any rust is a real surprise.

Performance isn't too bad (better than a KA, worse than an RST) but who cares, you can still out-corner most things !! Wahey!!!

Unfortunately it really drinks the fuel, but what do you expect for a 1.6 with only 4 gears !
Also, mk1 XR2 parts are as rare as a tax rebate...still, mk2 stuff usually fits.

Very reliable, incredibly responsive and ...its unique ... Its a modern classic.!!

I have a 1990 1.1 MK3 Pop+ Fiesta.
it had done pretty high miles when i
got it so i have a replacment 1.1
engine.
Its a good drive, but somtimes a real
pain in the arse to start when its hot
(eg. after the eninges been off for
20mins and at that inbetween stage)
think its just my car though.
i had a big problem with it cutting out
for no reason and have had most parts
replaced....after about 3 carb cleans
its been ok (mite be some crud in the
fuel tank blocking the carbs).
other than that its great.
cheap parts allways available, cheaper
insurance.
Manual choke is a bit anoying, id try
and get a model with an automaic one.

My little car may still make me look
like the poor student that I was when I
bought it and it has to be one of the
most cliche cars for a girl to own but
it hasn't let me down, it manages to go
down country lanes faster than
technically allowed and has great
insurance and fuel consumption. Cheap
and easy to use.

It really doesn't like hills though!

My Escort 1.3 has loads of rust, burns oil by the gallon, leaks when it rains, so why do I drive it.

Because I love it and it is a great run about for around the town, mine has tinted windows, 3 spoke alloys and a not bad sound system.
