They say that Quality never goes out of fashion ! That is certainly true of the Mk1 XR2. I have had 2 and my current one is a real head turner. She's unmarked and ex-works. She only comes out to play between April and September but it's amazing how fashions come and go. Twenty years on, car manufacturers are once again favouring round instrument dials, deep well bumpers and round headlamps. Long live the legend - and into classic status too.

Im now on my 4th FESTA, the first was a mk2 A-plate piece of crap that cost me a fortune to keep it on the road for a year, i then progressed to a mk 3. A g-plate 1.1 popular Plus, it had style, and earned me more respect than my first wreck.I then progressed to a K-plater,a 1.1LX Wide wheels, air bag,it was the kiddie, unfourtunatly some tosser in a Cavlier 2000 GSI decided that after 2 months of ownership it was time to visit the FESTA graveyrd in the sky. Having been so impressed with my last cars reliability i opted for another, this time a mk3.5, 1.3 Frascati, power Steering, central locking leccy windows the lot only problems being creaking front wishbones, but they will be sorted.Overall, not the quickest motors in the world but 10/10 from [Log in to view email]

Bought fiesta 1.6S in January cos XR3i engine went buggered, to do a road rally in. First rally, in a car I'd had for two hours and I finished 5th in my class. Verdict - Bloody good car handles well if you change the springs, driving position is crap but you cant have everything.

Mark 3 fiesta fuel tank holds 42 Litres (according to the book) but if this is the case then there has been many times i've been driving with less than 2 litres of fuel in the tank before fueling up with 40L of fuel - Argghh!
