just because the speedo read 90mph does not mean your 1100 was actually doing it, try early 80's.

A NOVA 1.8 THAT DOES 147 MPH, AN XR2 THAT LEAVES A CLIO 172 AND PIGS THAT FLY IN THE SKY WHILE ALL THIS IS HAPPENING. I CANNOT SEE HOW A UNDERPOWERED XR2 CAPABLE OF LITTLE MORE THAN AROUND 105 MPH CAN SEE OFF A CLIO 172. PREHAPS IT HAD THE SAME SPEEDO FITTED AS THAT 1.8 ASTRA!

Had loads Mk1's nor running 1740 on 40's
90 in a 1.1 is possible been there myself. as for the speedo at 15% out gimme a break that's illegal for a start. Suggest some people try it before posting comments rather than listening to others :)

I cannot see how a 1100 Fiesta will do 98 when my XR2 will only do 95, not a patch on my Triumph Acclaim Avon Turbo

I wonder how many Fiesta owners have heard of speedometer error, some speedos can read up to 15% fast, so although your car may read as though it has topped the clock, it is in reality highly unlikely. All this talk of 98 mph out of a 1100cc is rubbish, it probably only doing late 80's, taking into account speedo error. Prehaps the best way to find out the true top speed of your car is to look at the original road test which use accurate testing equipment therefore giving a true top speed. Ford themselves would love to employ some of these over optimistic owners for their claims.

just bought a mk3 1.1, for £10 (ten pounds!) needs new front suspension, wing mirrors, wiper blades, but havent had MOT test so don't know what else is wrong. there is a tiny chip out of the windscreen, does anyone know if this is an mot fail? a bit of rust here and there, round the arches, but nothing too bad. 89,000 miles and engine seems sweet.
My fiesta mk2 is excellent i only paid £60 cos the wheel arch is rotten on one side but it performs great its so cheap to run.

Got a 1.1 red mk3 fiesta for a first car ive had it about a year now. Everything on the car has been modded (which was all done by myself). I have front and rear rs turbo bumpers, delta 1 spoiler, clear 'lexus' rear lights, full 'blue' under car neon kit, big bore 4 exhaust + k&n air filter and one of the loudest sound systems. should be getting some 15 or 16" inch alloys soon and having it lowered about 40mm. For a first car that cost £500 which runs and drives really good i rate the mk3 fiesta 10/10

fiesta mk3's aint got nuthin on a mk2 Xr2. Mk3 2i's are tappety, unreliable and full of rust. I bet when 2i's are 20 years old they will be extinct. unlike the good old mk2 XR2.TRUST!

in answer to the broken wing mirror, they are simple to replace yourself and cost about £10-£15 (less if you go to a scrapyard)

A bus hit my passenger side wing mirror earlier and has pushed it out of place, although it is not completely broken off. Anyone have a rough idea what a repair estimate would be???
