The last of the original Vectra bodies. The SRi is an exclellent Motorway workhorse, with spec to match the price. Warranties can be extended for those on HIGH MILEAGE (just ask, they are VERY competitive)

HAD 99T 2 LTR DTI 16v BEEN REALLY GOOD. NEEDED A NEW BRAKE SERVO BUT THATS ABOUT IT, OH AND A STARTING PROBLEM..... TURNED OUT TO BE THE INJECTOR RETURN PIPES (LEAK OFF TUBES), AND COST ABOUT £20. I CAN SEE THAT ALOT OF DIESEL OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS STARTING PROBLEM, SO I SUGGEST YOU REPLACE THESE FIRST (TYPICAL SYMPTOMS SEEM TO BE TAKING AGES TO START FROM COLD..,ESPECIALLY IF LEFT FOR A WHILE, BUT THE ENGINE STARTS FIRST TIME IF ENGINE IS WARM) THIS IS DUE TO THE TUBES SOMETIMES SPLITTING...THEY SUCK IN AIR AND SUSEQUENTLY HAVE TO BLEED THEMSELVES BEFORE THE FUEL BUILDS UP ENOUGH PRESSURE TO IGNITE.... HOPES THIS HELPS...!
JUST DEVELOPED A NEW PROBLEM ASWELL... MANAGEMENT LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING THE ENGINE UNDER EXTREME LOAD (ie ON THE MOTORWAY GOING UPHILL IN 5th AT ABOUT 75...?ANY IDEAS E-MAIL ME [Log in to view email]

I have had 3 V6's, the first a cavalier, and since a Vectra GLS and now a 2.6 SRI Estate. The cars have got worse each time. The cavalier was the biggest inside and the fastest. The Vestra GLS was OK but cost a bomb to miantain (eg. 2000 Euros for a new ABS). However I survived a horific crash in it on the german Autobahn so I felt I owed the Vectra another chance. My newest 2.6 V6 is pretty crap to be honest, its all noise and no go. I does feel harder and stiffer than the GLS but feels less stable on the autobahn were I live in Germany. The latest V6 seems very hesitent and I think the extra electic gizmo's have made it even less rewarding to drive. I've driven new BMW's and Merc's accross europe at very high speed, but the cavalier and the vectra GLS felt the most stable and secure. I am certain the car is not putting anything like 170 bhp out, but the dealers saz its OK. I have a 20 yr old Lancer turbo also with 170 bhp, while not as smooth as the v6 and ultimately not as fast (due to aerodynamics) it certainly feels much much quicker and even the turbo lag is not a bad as the time it takes to get the 15Kg flywheel on the v6 spinning

Bought 1995 Vectra in November. Seatbelt warning light wouldnt go out. Guy at the garage said it was a "loose wire". This "Loose wire" was in fact a dodgy alternator that eventually gave up after burning out most of the electrics and sending the dash nuts! 4 months on it has had a new alternator, cam sensor unit, new wiper unit, back brakes, a new alloy wheel (dont ask!!!), 2 diagnostic tests and the steering column stripped to sort a rattle that appeared when the car went over 60mph. Including labour I have spent the value of the car on repairs. Avoid like the plague!!!!!

my 2001 vectra has developed some annoying problems, some the gmh dealer has fixed, some i dont think he wants to know about. A rattling from the engine when cold is of the most concern but service staff are having trouble getting the engine to display any such problems. although one of the more junior staff did admit he had heard the complaint before, senior service techs look baffled when i try to describe the annoying noise. loose fuel tank , torque vibration in muffler and clutch pedal that feels like it is about to fall out are just some of the recuring annoyances of this hard to love purchase.

I bought my dad a 2.0 16 Valve GLS model. Nice black one with alloys, front fogs and traction control!
Yeah its nice, got 97K on the clock, full service history.-runs well!
Watch out for the timing belt (as usual), Cam sensor and turbo (only joking about the turbo!!).
The Vectra is a reasonably priced car-ideal for my dad.

100 years in motion was a bit of joke when i was sitting motionless in the middle lane of the M6. The managment system decided that the vauxhall dealer garage wanted a £500 Cash injection on a poxy computer chip that was kmown by vauxhall to fail. Still they insist that it was not that the fault was not that dangerous say he behind the desk not driving infront of a articulated lori on the M6. Bring back my Escort TD all is forgiven.
2002 SRI 140 Estate. Car was purchased because it was a medium sized estate that actually flat bedded easily and was a reasonable price. Main problem is the nock from the steering when turning L or R at slow speed and pulling away. 3 visits to garage, where they have finally changed a steering link and problem went away for about a week - Car now booked in again! I have heard that it is a steering rack lubrication problem - any other comments on this??

I've had a 97 P Vectra SRI (2.0L 16V)for 8 months now. Car performed great when first got it, but now not so good. The car hesitates and seems to misfire / judder at all speeds (although it's only slightly noticebale). The car is not as quite at idle, little lumpy like it needs tuning! Tried changing everything that I can do myself, fuel filter, air filter, oil, plugs, ignition leads, still has the same symptoms. Anyone else had the same problem? There is also a strange mechnical gurgling noise just started, coming from the drive end (where the cam belt is) of the front cam, anyone know what this could be ?

Vectra 2l GLS. F18 GBox sheds teeth which make fantastic holes in casing, apart from that its a v good thrashing machine. Just replaced Gbox and the "locking" pin on the top selector unit is jamed in. Any help on getting it to release. Haynes says engage reverse but it wont go in to reverse. Trying to get Gbox supplier to provide some guidance. Any one any ideas?
