They're awsome little cars! 2 years at the bottom of a drive in all weathers and it still started first time. My thoughts are that they are probably the most reliable car I know. I may only be 10 years old but I've already learnt quite a lot about Allegros and in a rating out of 10 they are number one.

My first 2 cars were allegros - A 1500 special and a 1500 super. The latter had a problem in that the back seat was very insecurely fixed via a bent piece of wire (the standard seat fixing). I would get xr3i's pulling up next to me at the lights, with the drivers looking over and laughing - not for long. They looked so embarrassed when I went sailing past them!!!! I used to get 30-35 mpg out of them (and I didn't drive slowly at all). They were comfortable and smooth. The gear selection was like stirring porridge, but it worked. I still think now that I'd love to drive an allegro again - Great cars! Just don't go for the 1300 - bag of cr*p - nearly as unreliable as my hillman avenger!

My allegro is the first car I ever owned. Idoubt I shall enjoy any other car as much as the one I have now. It's the most reliable car on the road (it beats some of these modern ones!) although no the nippiest of vehicles it does what I want
