ok, lets get a few things straight.
i have never owned a nova and never will as i dont like the look of the car. however they are an ok car if you are on a budget. but all this talk of 1.3sr's beating xr2is is stupid. an xr2i has double the power and similar weight......you do the math!!!
then a few maxers like myself say their highly modded novas will beat an xr no prob......well of course they will if the xr in question is standard. it's just a stupid arguement.
i have a escort si 16v with 17" alloys, k&n 57i & big bore back box. it's going to get superchipped soon but i'm not stupid enough to say "MY CAR WILL BEAT YOURS" because i know it wont. but i will try blody hard too ;)

cheap, fast ,good handling easyly modded. blydenstein head is essential for top performance . 1.6 gte will happilly produce 125 bhp , 150 bhp with turbo. can take any vauxhall engine with ease. my gte has 135 bhp and beats everything cos its so light. The engine is ultra light so any bhp increase is felt.the only downers are the ride is shit compared to modern cars and the driving position for your legs is like very strange , its as if they made the car for a man with longer arms than legs.

I had my Nova for 17 years and it's been used for everything, trips abroad, family holidays, both kids learned to drive in it, until it was stolen last month and wrecked. I couldn't believe it!! A great, great car

I have a nova which i have recently moded. I widened the arches so that i could fit my 17ins fox 1s on. I have also lowered it. Personaly i think that for a first time car it is value for money because it is reliable and does not cost a lot to run. I would recomend the vauxhall nove to any body who is looking for a cheep but good first time car. I have to say that it has yet to brake down on me, The only thing i dont like about the nova is that it seems that no matter what i do to the back end it doesnt look as phatt as i would like. If you would like to ask me any questions on how to mod nova's me e-mail address is [Log in to view email]

I have had 3 Novas in my drivin days as well as escort, fiesta, 205 XS and i have to say, novas are the best for reliability, never broken down in a nova, started with a 1.0 at 17 years, went on to the 1.2 I currently have the 1.4 SR and a citroen AXGT both as fast as each other blowing any fiesta into the weeds man!

There is nothing wrong with a Nova yes it is 10 year old car if you want to get Mark 2 K reg. The cars look so good when they have been done up yes you can get crap ones but the ones that look good you have to give them respect for putting the time and money in it is a nice car even better when you get a old grandma who is reving the guts out of it proper boy racer style.
But come on give the car some credit if it wunt any good you would not get people doing them up.
And they are much better than a Metro!!!

I find these cars reliable and pretty nippy if you try. They are also easy to get parts for. One tip that I found, the fuel regulators on them can be a bit shifty but a way round it is to change them. Go to the local scrape yard and do a bit of grave digging and now I'm fine. If it doesn't start and just keeps ticking over, change the regulators and 9/10 times the car will start. Broken down twice in least 2 and a half years and both times its started up first time after swapping those little black boxes.

i just have to laugh at people when they talk about rovers being good. lol.
You can drop v6 engines into a nova as with 2 litre 16valve engines. Any of you people slating novas as being slow should take a ride in a 2 litre converted one and then you will be converted.

People seem to like stealing them like mine, very easily lowered, very quick cars comparec to other cars with same engine size.Easily modified with other vauxhall car parts, get one with no as little rust in th rear quarters as possible.
