120MPH OUT OF A 1.2 NOVA, THE MONKEYS ONCE WROTE A SONG ABOUT IT CALLED DAYDREAM BELIEVER. AND HOW DOES FITTING A WEBER CARB ON ITS OWN REALLY MAKE A 1.0 DO 105MPH. IF YOU WANT SERIOUS PERFORMANCE INCREASE OUT OF YOUR CAR YOU WILL HAVE TO MODIFY THE ENGINE MORE THAN THIS. BETTER STILL BUY A 16 VALVE CAR AS THEY WILL BREATH A HELL OF ALOT BETTER THAN YOUR PUNY ENGINE. ANY IMPROVEMENTS MADE TO A 16 VALVE ENGINE WILL BE WORTHWHILE WHEREAS YOU WOULD NEED A GOOD BOOK TO READ TO NOTICE ANY IMPROVEMENT IN YOURS. YOU MAY EVEN FINISH READING THE BOOK BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS.

Um nova, well there all bit passed it unless your barrel scarping. There are some models of which i have driven working at brandshatch. The 1.3 SR seems to be a good bet if your 18 and want cheaper insurance and the carbs can be modded.
The true fact is renault did clio's with 3 speed automatics and 1.8 litres @ 128 BHP. The 1 st gear was a real goer as in all 3 speed autos (made famous by the Mustang and other great V8's (not 8 valves). The clio would do 60 with out a change, and hence, no loss of acceleration, unlike manual novas.
I guess the best thing for you all to look out for is the fear ratios. They are put like this 4:12 they refect the amount of engine turns to turns of the wheel. Vauxhals are notorious for poor gearboxes, cheap cars what do you expect. But still there are one or two good ones, if your changing to often like at 15 or 30 then you are not putting power thru the drive train and hence are not moving foward with engine power.
So if your scraping the bucket, as i know alot of fellow brits are with high taxes and labour govements, keep your eyes out for the good ones.

u all talk of big power, and yeh ive seen quick mint novas, but at the end o the day the cars chassis can never, ever cope with the kinda power u all talkin and b driven hard and straight!!! No amount o seam welding or chassis prep will make that car handle big power, it just wont GRIP!!!

yea word up i have a 1990 Nova which recently had an impreza 2.5 RS engine dropped into it. though this was very expensive it is now running 550Bhp (with 100 shot of Nos!) my nova can barely get traction running 30psi but still manages 0-60 in around 1-2 seconds and will tap on 160mph. This will decemate all, catch me racing Stockholm (if you can) see ya.

hey guy who think had off a ax gt. was the gt parked?? ur either telling us porky pies or ur friend is the worst driver on the planet cuz u didnt and cudnt have a gt. I totally agree with REN21ANDREW all u idiots think ur collin mcrae and bump up my insurance cuz u cant f++king drive. Im 17(driving since i cud reach the pedals) only just passed my test i have an ax gt which is a good car but has as its problems like any car does but all i get is sad w**kers in little novas trying to race me all f**king day. I dont no what upsets them more-the fact that i wont race or the fact that im still beating them even tho im not racing! GET OFF THE ROAD. NOVAS ARE GAY.. just a question to everyone, im all up for my music but y do people spend more on there stereo then they do on there car?? this also seems to be typical with nova boys wiv there 14yr old girlfriends and baseball caps

Alrite im tottaly addicted to my nova sr. it started out life as a 1389cc sr, managed to tweek it 2 91bhp, then moved on with twin 40's cam and head work to get it on 112bhp, then my 2 liter 16v with a few bits had rollin roaded at 170bhp, and now the amazing spec of the 2l 16v turbo. the dyno proof of 382.6bhp is in front of me with over 450lb of torque it went off the rollin road scale they only go up 2 an accurate 400, but he predicted nearly 500lb of torque.. ive spent nearly 32k over the 3 yrs ive owned my nova and now its bloody physco. we thrash ferrari 355 evos scoobys cameros, nethin really. my full spec Engine: 1998cc 2 litre 16v calibra turbo engine on k reg fully rebuilt by just novas running fully synth racing oil. Clutch rated to 330bhp. F20 5speed box. Quaffie limited slip diff. Regal hybrid Turbo.Full phase 3.5 kit including, (4.5 psi fuel regulator. Software upgrade (chipped ecu). High performance plugs. High performance leads. Actuator spring. Electric power wheel. Adjustable boost 8-18 psi. 8.1 litre intercooler.) Bailey dump valve. Competition oil pump. Group A 0.9mm Head Gasket. Cos Cast performance Head. Polished rocker and cam cover. Competition engine mounts. Astra outa and inner CV joints. Competition drive shafts. I got rid of my old beloved nova, 95,000 on the clock due to rust. I bought a V reg vauxhall corsa, six months later I got a bill for a new steering column, £728. My old nova was more reliable and cost me a lot less to maintain!!! Be Warned!!

got given a 1.2 merit by a friend who was leaving and need a new car. Great lil car for my first. Only problem is that it can cost a small fortune for me to insure because a prats modding nova's and giving them a bad rep. I just want my nova for getting around, which it does fantastically, only work i ever had to do was change the spark plugs. and further more with out any messing around with it can even pace my mums 2 litre vectra.

nova gsi's are overated gte's are quicker . i totaly inhialated a gsi in a rover 216 gti if u want a quick 1600 with betta look's an alot more class for around the same money . one of the best cars ive driven add a k&n , boost valve , black diamond s/s exshaust and drop 40 mm an u will loose count of how many golf gti's , escort gti's , saxo,s u will leave behind and out handle wot a car . got a astra gte 2.0 16v now , if uve neva driven one try an get hold of one then u will no the meanin of brown phants , cheer's

i am the chairman of the nova tipping society. we want all people to start tipping over all novas/corsa on there roof. To also confuse the d*@k for brians that drive them always point at them and chant the good word of "nice nova" this should be said in a down grading manner. (please note :-there are no nice novas) Extra sarcasam is needed for pink or other badly painted cars.
