205 1.6 GTi has no equal as a drivers car, it looks fantastic too..I f only they didn't come with those electrical running faults, it's one thing after another! - doesn't matter though once you turn the keys, owners love them & accept thier faults. Mine idles at 2000rpm and misfires when the engine is under load, it's not cap or leads etc..any ideas?
Performance is perfect but safety and reliability are poor (braking...etc). Acceleration is marvelous but the top speed is not. I think a car with a horspower of 130 and a weight of 880 kg should be faster and reach at least 220km/h. But the max speed that I can reach with my original car is something about 195-200km/h and not more.
sound as a pound, but if it goes wrong it ALL goes wrong at the same time !!! car keeps cutting out and wont start for a few minutes, maybe even longer, it cuts out while im driving...any ideas, thinking its the fuel pump?????
So it was a 309 gti but basically the same.magnex back box sounds awesome.homemade induction kit consisting of a plastic radiator top mounted under the front bumper ,silicon hosing thru a sock filter directly into the inlet,,sucking up that forced cool air significantly improved performanceand the induction noise at the front of the car pure music, looked good too
I payed £1500 for my second J plate xs, it rattles like f**k but the handling is awesome! It also beats my mates N plate escort 1.6si off lights etc, I wouldnt want any other car for the money!
i have a 205xs,as a wanna be boyracer with a limited budget, this is the best...0-60 in 11secs is not bad 4 a car thats not a GTi,and insurance is not too bad..the question on reliability is debatable, mine broke down in the first month...over all,its "tha bomb" and good value foe money..
Fragile, cramped, unreliable moneypits. Tend not to rust too much which makes people think they are durable. They aren't! They eat wheel bearings, brakes, cooling systems and gearboxes. They are also very heavy and unrewarding to drive, particularly diesels. They are reasonably quick due to their shoddy build
I've driven most hot hatches from Rs' to GT Turbo's but only one is completely timeless and thats the 205 Gti, the handling is second to none and with a little work they go like Sh*t off a shovel, 100% PERFECT
A pocket rocket that is fun and has all the character of Bart Simpson. A bit dated now but it is still the car of todays youth.

Well i've had 4 pugs and the first was a red xs one ended up upside-down, the second i attempted to do up was a black xs but had problems driving it yet alone doing it up!!! Had another red one but cubed it coz it was really bad, the windows leaked and the handbrake twisted round, the hinge on the door went and i had an oil leak straight after i bought it! I also painted it with different paints trying to decide what colour it should be, i think i ended up with 6 different colours and shades, i also attached a spoiler to it with super glue and poly filler. Anyway i scrapped that one with the other 3. I now have a 1.6 GTI BEAST that is mint but it has had it's fair share of problems, like it doesn't like cold, mild or warm weather to start in, in fact i'll be lucky if it starts at all. Puttin loads of ice in at the mo like a screen n stuff. got saxo alloys on it and makin my own frond bumper out of cardboard and then coverin it in fibreglass. i've always wanted a pug 205 all my life so i'm always proud to drive it with the orange flashing lights of the RAC just behind!!!

My 205 1.6gti has done over 135000 miles so far and still has plenty of welly. Things are beginning to wear out, but it has been so reliable over the past couple of years during my ownership of it. It looks quite untidy now 'cause I don't wash it(!), but other road users still try and give me a run for my money - so I guess it still has that effect on people! My wife's brother drives a new BMW and reckoned that he had difficulty keeping up on one occaision.

My electric red peugeot 205 beast, is simply amazing, it is a guaranteed bird puller, sensational handling, you can really feel the power under the bonnet, it must be valued at over £2000 for it is fully chromed, kitted out with the latest sound system and red coloured seatbelts.

Just bought a 92 1.7 deisel. Near mint, one owner who;'d used it for a gentle 10 mile commute on open roads each day. It drives like new. 650 pounds. It's fantastic. Plenty of pull, involved progressive handling. Simply superb.

I have just bought a 205 gti and its absolutely fantastic. Great fun to drive - a real pocket rocket.
It just has one problem, every so often (typically under load) the engine loses power. No matter how hard the accelerator is pushed nothing happens. Is there a cure - I've heard it may be the ignition timing not being properly set to use unleaded??
Any help really appreaciated.

I've had my 1.9 GTi for 7 years now and I've been everywhere in it - Amsterdam, Belgium, Germany' Spain and France and just got back from a mad 3 day thrash around the very north of scotland. And it's mint. It's a late 'E' reg and done 170000 mls. OK, like any car it aint gonna go for ever so, I rebuilt the engine 20000 ago but apart from that it's been great. I just cant part with it. Nothing is as exillerating to drive, it has everything I need, and she does as she's told! wot more cud a bloke ask 4 ???!!!
