Hahaa. 18bhp derestricted? In Finland its 26bhp derestricted. We also don't have to buy a CDI-unit. I feel sorry for you. My DT is derestricted and it's fast enough......for now. I have my eye on a Gianelli powerexhaustpipe. I already have the boysen power reeds.

unfortunately it takes a lot of money and patients to get the best out of it.. ya need the DEP exhaust £200 and the reeds £40 and all the other little bits of shit ya can do £100 thats not taking into account ya might want a derestricted CDi unit.. (unbelievable amounts of cash)... for some reason i reckon derestricting a kmx wud be easier and u wud get more BHP out of it.. kmx=17hp(before derestriction)24hp after...dt=14hp before derestricion 18hp after derestriction.. if u can take the horible look of a kmx then its a faster bike.. but the DT looks the part. so the choice is urs... ya just cant win.. get a wr400! now there a bike!

have had 2 dt,s excellent trail bike. experiences if you have the powervalve closed it will run forever up the hills open the powervalve it will blow up the top end. Buy a servo powervalve that links up to your cdi and you will be in for a scare straight up power right through the scale the bike will wheelie better wheelspin better and piss on everyone who tought your bike was slow BACK BREAK CALLIPPERS If the wheel is slack atall the bbracket will snap. Buy a new one if the calliper plays up it can be difficult to find a second hand one so try and get a front calliper its easier found. To fit it take out the sliding pin on the bracket and move it to the other side. MY FRIEND HAS THE FASTEST DT He has a DEP front and back pipe carbon race reeds the piston skirt has been taken up by 0.4 of amill exst port pollished and v slightly widend allround powervalve kit and the needle right up this bike is now in spain tormenting the spanish as it is always on the back wheel it will wheely from power in third gear and stay there REBUILDING A DTR fair enough if something goes wrong with the engine it has to be fixed but you will have problems gettig the swinging arm pin out I had an f reg dtr which i had to cut the swinging arm off to get the engine out tried heat then brute force with a sledge hammer but none worked so PPPPPPLEASE would all dtr riders get hold of a grease gun and grease those nipples!!!

I got a DT125R as a learner bike, and as such it has served me brilliantly. It's a 125cc 2-stroke trail bike, with a fairly tall riding position (seat height is 85cm), knobbly tires, and bendy durable plastics (so it won't break if you drop it).

As a learner bike it's simply brilliant. One of the hardest things you have to master in the UK bike test is the U-turn, but on a DT, you're laughing - the steering lock is really far over, so much so that my wrists get in the way of full lock. The wheelbase is, to tell the truth, longer than many standard learner bikes (eg Honda CG125) but the turning circle is still amazingly small. The knobbly tires don't make for the easiest emergency stopping and you won't be getting your knee down, but you will be able to see past most traffic, and manoever through or past most queues. I'm looking to move up to a 500 as soon as I pass my test, but that's because I want to go touring with my wife, and the DT's traillie seat and 14bhp aren't suited to long treks to the South of France; I need something with more comfort & power.
