hey people!! i just rebulit the engine on my DT because it seized. I was working on it for 3 months due to work commitments. Now i`ve put it all back together and it doesn`t seem to start. Anyone got tips on how to start it as i can`t seem 2! ive spent a while kiking it over and it growls but it dosn`t fire!! Help me!!
Reeds are the part which looks like flaps which are on the air inlet side of the carb, the standard ones are steel i think, using carbon ones are stiffer which make them more responsive, dont give power gains but make the throttle more responsive through mid throttle.
i havent actually fitted the k&N yet as i am waitin for a new main jet that i ordederd(260) as i herd puting it on with the rong jut causes the piston to melt or summit. can any1 tell me if a 260 is the rite size or not? i already have a full dep and carbon reeds if thats of any relevence????
MESSAGE TO ALL. DO NOT FIT A K&N FILTER TO YOUR DT!!! THIS FILTER LETS IN SO MUCH AIR THAT YOU CAN NOT SET THE MIXTURE PROPERLY. THE ENGINE WILL RUN WEEK RESULTING IN A HOLE BURNT THROUGH THE PISTON CROWN AND A RE-BORE WILL BE NEEDED. YOU CAN NOT PUT IN A BIG ENOUGH MAIN JET TO COMPENSATE FOR THIS AMOUNT OF AIR WITHOUT FLOODING THE ENGINE. ALSO THIS FILTER IS TIGHT UP AGAINST THE MONOSHOCK WHICH CAUSES THE CARB TO VIBRATE ALOT. THIS IS ALSO BAD AS THE FUEL IN THE FLOAT CHAMBER WILL BE BOUNCING AROUND ALL OVER THE PLACE. KEEP THE CARB CONNECTED TO THE AIR BOX FOR RIGIDITY AND GET A REPLACEMENT FOAM FILTER. TWIN AIR MAKE MOTO X FILTERS FOR THE DT AND DO THE JOB PERFECTLY WITHOUT BLOWING UP YOUR ENGINE.
PS. THIS ISNT BULLSHIT. IGNORE AT THE EXPENCE OF YOUR ENGINE!!!!
hi there, just wonderin if any1 could help me out. i ve got a 1993 dt125r and i just purchased a k&n. i was told i have to rejet the carb and i bought a 260 main jet but the one in it is a 210. is 260 too big should i ave gone for a 240? can some1 please help me out cheers Ross
hi every one anyone know how fast the dt125r 03 go with and with out being derestriced i dont think mine is but theres no roads near me long enough or quiet enough to get the top end speed i got about 60 but it was still going up and i ran out of road.
hi ridelikeyoustoleit thanks for the advice but i've got it second hand an can i still get the rac cover for other jobs on it, coz i think i solved this one i found a bob-hat in the petrol tank ? i know werid it must have been blocking the fuel getting out.
If you run a search for DT125R on ebay you will find the parts i'm selling. There is a DEP silencer and a de-restricted front pipe. I will sell the pair for £65 including postage or £35 for the silencer including postage but that price is only for people off this page so quote it if you bid. Thanks.
Hey, just got a DT 125LC amazing condition, G reg, i have had 53mph out of it without taking it to full power, as far as i know it has the original exhaust still, does this sound like its restricted at all?

My DEP silencer is on sale for £30 plus postage and packing from today. It will be on ebay from tomorrow with a picture and I'll close the auction early for the right price. Cheers.
Message for Jackflash. Check the Yamaha website - you get 12 months RAC cover with any Yamaha free from it's registration date. Next time it dies phone the RAC and get them to fix it for free. Any parts needed you should have had 12 months warrantee from the garage you bought it from. A message to everyone else looking to beef theres up: A new exhaust will make the most difference, everywhere I've read the DEP exhaust is best rated. Then a K&N air filter and open up the powervalve. I used to have an RD125LC (same engine as the DT) with a race exhaust, K&N filter, geared up, ported and gas flowed it did 115 mph and the 0-80mph was seriously fast. The porting and gas flowing made no difference but cost me money to have done and the piston fell apart after 2 months screwing my barrel up!!
