I have some great tips on how to optimize top end speed on a DTR125. 127mph no problem.............Throw the heap off the top of a multi-story carpark. Terminal velocity should kick in after about 34 feet of free fall and will top 127 no problemo. Stop faffing around guys, take your test, its no big licks. Get off your lazy arse and buy yourself a thumper like my wheelius monsterus WR400. Wahey!
i just ad my whole front end rebuilt (new wheel 2 whole shocks yes whole shocks for just 200 pound im a lucky guy) i need to know does deristricing it and adding a dep pipe cause the engine to blow coz me mates engine blew doing 70mph and me uncle says hell fit the parts for free?
I'am 17 and own a Yamaha dt125r. the first thing you need to do is rip them huge indicaters off and get some small ones then get dep pipes front and back, I can't keep my DT's front wheel down when I pull away as fast as it can go and it goes off the clock in almost no time at all. The dep pipe makes a massive difference I am pritty shore that it increases the power by a hole 1/4. I had a race with my mate who had a toyota starlet turbo gti and I made him look like he was going bachwards that was when the DT was standard the power is all in the front dep pipe and the sound is too. Make sure you get new jets with your dep pipes because you will find out that the bike is needing more fuel ,it will make the bike run better. DT125's are really stong mine was parked and got hit by a ford mondeo almost the whole bike was under the front of the car, the only thing that was damaged was the front wheel and the handle bars. There are lots of things you can do to make your dtr quicker. i used to own a dtr it was stolen in november the only 125 that could beat it was an aprilia rs which was capable of 130mph, you wont get more than about 105mph out of a dtr . As standard a dtr is around 14 hp, do everything on my list and you'll be on the back wheel in 3rd and kickin out about 30hp. 1) The first thing to do is to turn the powervalve around to open the exhuast port wide open this will let your bike rev right out but you will give the bike a much narrower powerband so youll be reving it alot more to pull off and go up hills.2) A dep pipe will cost you over £200 for a full system but will add on alot of power and make it sound great to. visit http://www.racespec.co.uk for dep pipes. 3) a K&N air filter is also a must youll prob. have to put a bigger jet in the carb but youll ad on about 3-4 hp and itll sound really beefy to. 4) the dtr is also restricted through the cdi ignition box but only on models newer than 1991 H rej. so if you can find a cdi box off a dtr older than 91' youll add on big hp by changing it. 5) you can also get a set of boyesen reeds to add on abit of power they cost about £30 also from racespec. you can do more small things like rasing the compression n' stuff but youll risk cooking your engine so its not really worth it. so thats about it, do all these things n' youll be amazed at the power gained just like a scrammie. DAZ.
Sorry to bother you this way but i read your post and you mentioned that with the servo set up properly you get good results. Well i have a 1990 model which goes very well but i cant see that you can do any more than line up the slot with the whole on the servo without putting strain on the cables. If there is another way could you please let me know. Also i had to buy a new barrel and head and the newer head, i think,(they got mixed up) si different. One has just a plain domed chamber and the other has an extra ridge around the outside of the dome. Could you tell me why they have done this and which one would be best to use? Many thanks indeed... Its not a quick top end as my 2001 DT was.
Also, @ every1.....My driving instructor(done an irish driving test recently) told me that I can adjust the powervalve (he mentioned connecting something that is already there)to get the full 33bhp version !! Anyone every hear this before or done this ??
Hi all I've bought a dt a few months ago and I love it. Just that it goes too slow. Here in Belgium it only has 14 hp (those stupid laws) Can anyone explain to me how I have to change the settings of the powervalves? Please mail me at [Log in to view email]
I brought a DTR 2003 model for passing my test and it was great loads of fun
but haveing passed my test I really need to get a bit more speed out of it so I was wondering about deristicting it. now im a novice willing to have a go but could do with a web-site or if someone would email me with what I can do and if there are any implactions in doing it cus I did hear that you will reduce the life span by a lot if you deristrict it
Hi, I have a 2000 dt125r and i would like to put a dep pipe, race reeds, powervalve kit and possibly a big bore kit. But where can i get all this??? I can only seem 2 find out about dep pipes. Is there a place or a site that does tuning/parts for dt's???
Hi Fitted a full dep system to my 03 DT125R and it does about 80mph. Lots quicker accelleration aswell. some one said i should get it re jeted. has any one done this and how do you go about doing it. also what about fitting boysen power reeds to it aswell. is this a good idea.
I got a DT it flys! its derestricted 86' model one of the best sounding ive heard. It still looks the dog bollocks not one of those shite pinks ones!. i have one problem the speedo does not work and i dont know where to get the parts or what wrong... any help! please
Hi can n e 1 help me i have a 02 model dt125, it splutters at about 7000rpm and tops out at about 60-65mph, i believe its because its risticted, can n e 1 please explain 2 me what i exactly need 2 do to deristrict it, thankyou.
