I had a 2.8i Capri and it would only do 101mph flat out, even my mates standard Allegro 1750 beat it in a race day at Santa pod!

too long ago I owned first a 1600XL mk1 fantastic car! I fitted a webber twin choke and a sports exhaust of some make or other banded out steel rims etc bloody great fun car ! next capri was the mighty 3.0 ghia mk3 auto went like the proverbial standard, in its day not much was faster for the money , but it wasn't fast enough! sooo! £££ spent made this car a feared thing in the north of Scotland (Holley 4 barrel carb, big valve heads uprated valve springs etc etc etc Zakspeed exhausts, lowered suspension 71/2 inch appliance wheels Goodyear NCT tyres etc etc )many tried and many failed she used to rev to the red line and hit the endstop on the speedo!!!! 1 poor Porche owner couldn't understand why he had FORD writen on his rear view mirror and 2.8i owners learned not to try (the hard way) Anyway all good things come to an end and I had to sell the beast :>( best wishes all
PS: anyone in the aberdeenshire area remember GAO600V ?

My first car was a 2 litre Mk3. Excellent all round, no reliability problems, 80 all day on the motorway, and improved handling with gas shocks at the rear. Bags of room, practical hatchback, easy to work on, simple components, sound design. Why oh why does no-one manufacture a similar car any more? No one really needs electric gizmos, an engine that would defeat a space shuttle technician, a catalytic converter (they do not work..ever), and power steering.
Basic 2 door coupe with "liftback" please.

I've had my 2.8 for just over a year now and I'm only 28 . The shape , the performance (stage 3 heads ,kent cam, magnex s/s sytem 3" tails) , the cheap insurance (classic policy £300 a year fully comp) , who cares about the fuel consumption I can afford it with these savings .

People say the handlings bad , only in the wrong hand as is any car . The performance is unbeleivable , I've seen off 325i's/Celica's/MR2's/GT 5 turbos and go looking for Cosworths to scare (I might not pass them but most never shake me loose) .

Fun doesn`t get this cheaper .
