Bought our Nubi (2000 Nubira CDX wagon) Feb. 2000. Loved it, love it. Unfortunately someone just side-swiped it while parked and it's being totaled. Have had some trouble I see mentioned by others: A-arm bushes went out at about 75K miles; hub bearings just went out at 83K miles and replaced; car was hit and I cleaned her up, only minor damage to driver door and small scratch in L.R. glass (it's being totaled because these orphans now have almost NO value, except to those who love and want to keep them). Then on a 90 mile trip to Sacramento she lost her engine. Combustion gases in the coolant and a hint of water in the oil. I know, this would spell D.E.A.T.H. to most, but we still love the car, so much we're buying another just like it off eBay - a 2002, first sold in 2003, 6400 miles on it for $6500, including shipping east coast to west coast. May get the old one fixed if the extended warranty pays enough of the bill. Am I nuts?? No, I know and love cars (ESpecially the odd, unusual, and NOT run-of-the-mill cars - after all I have Fiat 850's, Datsun 411's, and a Volvo 1800ES in the stable, and I do most of my own work on them), and this is a hard one to beat IMHO. It's the best package for the price, again IMHO.
Modern motoring with many standard features, easy to drive and absolutely without fault. Quiet, economical and responsive engine, ice cold air-con, good build quality, dual airbags for safety. My only concern is that my remote control for central locking has stopped working but this is a minor niggle. Paintwork (especially following car-wash)is positively gleaming !
Only just scraped through it's first MOT in Dec.2001- was back at the dealers within 2 weeks of purchase due to being ankle deep in water. Some other problems never fixed.Just paid £400 for new suspension parts although it has only done 26K miles.Gone through 2 new tyres and had 2 punctures within 6 months. I've got the feeling this is first of many problems.

Nubira and Daewoo is No1 in price/performance ratio.
I have had mine for 5 1/2 years with 80000 on the counter and no problems with the reliability so far. It handles curves like very few cars do.
The equipment is adequate and generous. It has enough space and it is built to be robust and inexpensive at the same time.
If you buy Nubra you are a person who wants to have car for many ears without opening the hood. Its a Honda for half price.
The fuel consumption is higher compared to my previous cars. Be prepared for that or just install LPG (or buy Nubira-LPG from manifacturer) as I did.

Getting spares is a joke,I am waiting two weeks for a thermostat as they are molded into a plastic case only a Daewoo part will do.Main dealers are very poor for carrying spares. I would not recommend Daewoo to anybody

Don't touch a Nubira with a rubber barge pole, although that might no be a bad idea. Front control arm bushes shot at 30000, (my last car was a Nissan, with 120000 on the clock and suspension as good as new) means £268 for complete arms as the bushes are not available. Perhaps the most lucrative design feature for Daewoo multiply numbers sold times 30000 miles times £268. A nice little earner.

I think my nubira is a dream car. It's comfy, it's elegant and it's got power. The car is loaded with goodies such as air con and remote locking..... not to mention the 6 speaker stereo!! I have only had the car 4 months, I know that's not long but there's no probs whatever.
Owned for 3 months.
