I've owned Ford Classics for over 15 years and wouldn't sell my current car. It's a great old thing, bumpy, draughty and the brakes are dire in comparison with modern cars. But what a headturner!
Unveiled by FoMoCo in 1961 to a mixed reception. N American styling and expensive to build, it was Fords lowest selling car. I have owned mine since 1980 and LOVE IT! Would love to hear from any other owners past or present

I purchased my 2 door saloon RDY 835 approx 30 years ago for £40 with a loose prop shaft! Blew up the original 1340cc engine and replaced it with a 1500GT engine and a 2000E gearbox, and turned it into a real rocket to drive. Went on honeymoon in it and the wiper motor packed up on the way back from Wales, so my wife had to operate the wipers manually from under the dashboard while I drove in the pouring rain. It was repainted 3 times. Firstly black then brown and finally red with a brown roof. Poor door closing and rust finally beating me 6 years later. My wife cried when I finally sold it. I still rate it as the best car I ever had for it's time. Les Pace 2002

I owned a Classic for 2 years way back in the 80's. It turned heads, burnt oil and the door lock was shot. I really remember it for the disc brakes - with no servo I ended up writing it off by driving into my friends boot. Pity I didn't keep the plate '5606 R'
