I love my sportage. Fuel bills are a bit high with it being petrol. But you get alot of car for your money. It drives well and I havent had any problems yet. Would deffinatly have another one
I purchased the Kia Sportage after owning a Daihatsu Terios. I needed a 4x4 with a bit more space and power that did not break the bank. Well I purchased an almost 3 year old Sportage with 25k on the clock. It was great, the 2.0 mpi engine was more than adequate to power the car at motorway speeds and it was tough on rough ground.
The electric window motor needed replacing, a plate under the car rattled occasionally and needed tightening but this is about all that went wrong. Never failed to start, had great heater and was comfortable. Negative points are the interior was a bit cheaply made and it wasn't a particularly solid 4x4- the lightness did actually make it faster and nippier on bad ground though. The biggest downside to buying a Kia, as i found out, is the depreciation is terrible. They lose their value very, very quickly and a lot of dealers don't want them because they are not a well known brand. I paid 7k and lost 2k in 9mths. That is bad.
I am thinking of buying a Kia Sportage and would like to have some honest feedback of its over all running and handling. Is it worth buying? I have a Honda CIvic at present and would like a 4X4 but not too big thats why i chose a Kia, they look nice on outside and not to bad inside, however i do not know anyone with one so i would like your opioins. Please could you give me all the information that you have. How reliable is it? How economical? etc?
Bought new and covered 42000 miles in 2 1/2 years at 26mpg. Only small problems, fixed immediately by dealer. Good on the motorway and surprising off road. Extremly comfortable.

The other people who have submitted reviews have no idea what they're talking about. Everyone knows that the Kia Sportage, especially the 2000 model, is the biggest piece of crap ever to roll off the assembly line. And Kia knows it too! The sportage is a dangerous, unreliable vehicle with almost no resale value at all.
