I have a 93 Nissan Nx 1600 and I absuloutely love it! My dad has worked at a Nissan dealership all my life, so I've always had them around. My NX is incredibly smooth for its size and it has quite a bit of power for only a 4-cylinder engine. It already has 226,000 miles on it and we have never had to get anything on it fixed, never any mechanical problems, it runs just like the first day I bought it. I was in a fender bender a while back where a vehicle ran into the back of me, the air bags of the other car popped out and damaged the front of their car pretty bad. All my NX got was 2 small dents and a bad scratch. Nissans are known for holding up well. The t-tops really add alot to the car and make it really fun to drive in the summer. I would definately recommend this car to someone.
I have the solid body Japanese import and frankly it has been a barrel of laughs. Anyway, who needs to take the roof off when you have air con. Admittedly this does hamper the already slightly underpowered nature of the car but hey it's been fun. Cost of running is minimal, and even when pushed hard, and I do push it hard, fuel economy is good. It seems perfectly happy doing a ton, but that would never happen in the UK. ahem. Highly recommended.
I have had to change the Nikki carb for a weber. Apart form that, what a great little car. I have started the UK 100NX club so all owners come & sign up. Goto http://www.100NX.com Cheers, Dick
i brought a 100nx 6 months ago. have now tuned it up correctly, (why do people try tuning cars when they don't know what they're doing). my 100nx now does 40mpg, and 0-60 in 8.5secs. people say they're not fast put i'd put mine against any carb fed 1600 on the road today. if you keep it well tuned and serviced they are very reliable. point of interest mine is 10 yrs old with 150,000mls on the clock.
I bought the 100nx for the wife 4 months ago (Jan. 02). It's 12 years old and cost £1600 with 72k on the clock. No problems so far. It has a deceptively large boot, enough room for two golf bags (without removing the woods) and trolleys. A fun little car to drive with reasonable mpg. This model does not have the targa roof but it is not missed, after all it never stops raining in the Lake District, except when its snowing. If you get the chance to buy one, do it. But don't expect to outrun any of the modern coupe's. It's nippy and fun on twisties. Motorways, you can sit at 80 all day. The 1.6 engine is ideal for the size of the car but take it over 80 mph and watch the needle on the fuel gauge drop before your eyes.
