I bought my Ford Escape with about 10,000 miles on it. After about for months I had to take the car into the shop for noises when steering. The rack and pinion set had been replaced now twice. The ford dealership claims this to be because their parts are remanufactured and in just happened to be a part failure. I now have had my car out of the shop three days after the 2nd rack and pinion job and the noise is still occuring. I will keep you posted, my escape must now go back into the service department.

I purchased an '02 Escape XLT in May and after having it for only two weeks, I noticed an oil leak. Took it to the dealer who informed me that Ford told them to install a brand new engine. After a week, I picked up my car and saw on the service copy that Ford installed a REMANUFACTURED engine in my new car. Vehicle had only 164 miles on it when I took it in for repairs. I asked for a $2,500 cash refund, but Ford refused. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office, but Ford refused to cooperate with them. Am currently considering legal action. BUYERS BE AWARE THAT FORD IS INSTALLING REMANUFACTURED PARTS ON NEW CARS. Unless you have an attorney, DO NOT purchase a Ford vehicle.
