Outstanding performance, and considering the body was designed in the 80's, (Remember this car was released in 1989) it still looks fantastic. But its not to every ones taste and some say over the top. However this car has a top speed of 180mph (When un-restricted) and 0-60 in about 5.5, and needs to look fast. The ride is comfortable, and the electric drivers seat means changing your position with out having to move your weight around. The drive is silent and smooth, you can even say to the police, it didnt sound like I was doing 125 officer. Because it doesnt, I have done it on an empty motor way and I thought I was doing 80, its that quite. The drivers console is clear and easy accessable, I was amazed that there was only 1 control stick on the column and thats your indicator. All the other controls are switches, knobs and buttons on the side of the dash. A little confusing at first, but you get used to it and most controls are reachable with out having to take you hands off the wheel, while the others your hand is within an inch or so when in being used. In the summer the T-Tops off makes the car feel like a convertable and hearing a constent purr of the V6 is just like a dream. But some really hot days its better to put the T-Tops back on and use the air contitioning to cool you down, and nearly freeze you if its on too low. With the T-Tops comes a little problem. They tend to leak slighly and so do the windows. Most of the time treating the rubber seals with products from Halford or like that will fix this problem. The back seats are nearly useless, but what do you expect, its a super car. There are other small issues that will occur. But the Nissan 300ZX has a nice community. I suggest visiting http://www.300zx.co.uk People there will give you better advise than any garage, because most of them have been there before. If you are thinking of getting one of these cars, I emplor you to get one. Its big, fast and amazing.
One of the best sports coupes around, buy the best you can afford and find a tame independant mechanic to look after it, do not use Nissan garages apart from costing you a small fortune to work on your car they usually know nothing about them, maybe 20 or 30 garages in the country were trained to look after 300's.
When buying look for good history especially oil changes and do not neglect the cam belt changes, if one breaks through your neglect then you will kick yourself for the rest of your life as the repair would pay for a six month holiday in the sun.
Do not be afraid of jap imports the japs tend to look after there sports cars and in many cases the spec is higher than an equivalent UK model with leather and after market alloys.
Jap cars are usually speed restricted and it will cost you about £100 to put this right with a little electronic gizmo that wires between the speedo and sender unit.
A good H plate will set you back between £7K to £7.5K but you will get Ferrari pleasure and that targa top is wicked when we do get some sun.
