As a 41 year old ex lc hooligan i reckon i lived life to the full in the 80s ! I had 3 \ 250s 2 \ 350s and me last woz a 350 F. I used to get chased on a regular basis , but all officer dibble had in them days woz metros & cavaliers {pretty much crap} The fun i had on me glorious LCs will always remain a firm favourite , if it blew up i cud fix it in a matter of moments !! Ive owned fzs cbr gpz gsxr but the LC will stay with me always !! On me 1st lc me & my bird at the time went to the pub, upon leavin a crowd had gathered so me bein the clever sod thought id pull a monster wheelie extra ballast should make it a stonker ? Out we go 1st gear wind it on till it starts pullin , back off then give full wap . Up it cums then suddenly the very important balance point begins to overtake me im tryin to stay on, me bird on the back is stoppin me fallin off ? I manage to pull the clutch in down she cums ! Verbal abuse from her on the back begins !! Wot an absolute hoot ?? I ended up marrying that dear lady on the back .
Easy to maintain & fix . FUN FACTOR !!!!!!
The throttle only worked one way .

Allspeed pipes a must or Microns & jet it up !
Owned for 4 years.
Had a 250 that I changed to a 350. Fantastic bike. Blew up a few times and I could change the crankshaft in a couple of hours. Stopped riding it when kids came along and it sat in my garage for a couple of years. Lost it to a friend who borrowed it, stuck it in a bike shop for repair, then forgot about it. Didn't tell me that when they handed him a bill after a year of storage he told them to keep it. We still can't speak about it.... Would love another one so still looking. PTY ***Y where did you go...? Only bike I will ever miss... Seems to be everyone who has ever owned one would have another one, a True Classic.
The rush..
Reliability, crankshafts

Red and white - the best
Owned for more than 5 years.
hey i dont own one but i love them. but my mum has one in original condition.she had it from new in 1982 never bin blown up or any thing its great cant wait to ride it
I worked in the bike trade at a main dealer for 6 years (1994-2000) I rode ever new and old bike there was, blades, 916, beemers, 125's, trails, GSX-R's. you name it. I gave up bikes, got married, changed jobs and when i went back and brought a bike what was it a 1988 RD350YPVS F2. There is nothing like a good LC/Powervale to give you this much pleasure for so little time and money. Get one. Do it now.
Had a 250LC in '82 that was reliable, unburstable and very quick(Dunno how that happened). Replaced by a 350 that broke even when you looked at it...Seized at 110 on the M6, luckily in a straight line. Then had another 5, plus one which had a Stan Stephens Mega Tune which I can't remember how it cost. They are just addictive, plain and simple. If you throw it down the road, put it it the trailer and rebuild it!!
got my LC after my F900 honda broke its cam chain after a long time with out a 2 stroke it was fantastic, did the TT acouple of times ,best bike i ever had.had to sell it after 14 years,it was still original no rebore-std pipes-std black paint.may get one some day
Mmmmmmmm, LC`s !! Had these wee beasties for the last 22 years and now they are more popular than ever. When I`m out on my LC I like to park it up next to the latest plastic fantastic and see people ignnore the 999 Ducati / Bimota / R1 or whatever to get a good look at a 22 year old classic. See loads of LC piccys here; http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/lcyamaha

I started with a 350 lc X reg in 1985 it was proddy tuned unknown to me at the time of purchase i took it out for a test ride shit my self when the rev counter hit 7 grand and bought it there and then for £400. After 2 years some bastard stole LC it was found in the local river minus the engin and some other parts, so i made a deal with a mate who had a YPVS stolen, all he got back was the engin, so £200 was paid the electrics got from breakers yards and i was back on the roads. I started clubman racing in the lc class what a bloody good laugh that was, i never won a race but i got a few 3ed 4th & 5th places, brilliant fun. I progressed on the road and bought a GSX 750 hated it sold it, bought a ypvs in standard trim, back to fun again, since then i have had the TZR 250 Rev. Cyl. and now currently have the wonderful TZR 250 V twin i am now 38 and still love them to bits. The memory of my 350 lc will be with me till i die.
IVE had 3 350 lcs a few years back now,and a 125 which i regulary got 100 mph out of(lying almost on the tank, downhill, admitedly, but it was there!)if yer love two strokes, its the bike to have, well no,its a good bike full stop dave
Never owned one, but while I was living in IOM in 1993 me mate's mate Evan arrived over with an LC 350. I had a week off work for the races, he had a weeks holliers, so guess what ?? We stormed the TT course one day, normal traffic, not a closed road or anything. I had previously done the course several times, including on a Genesis 1000, but believe me, the fun of being a passenger on a squashy-suspensioned 350 takes some beating, my heart was everywhere, seeing as I knew the course far better than Evan. After returning to Douglas at teh exact same time 1000 haiies got off the ferry, Evan proceeded to rip doughnuts outside Bushy's pub, just as a welcome, like. They all knew what an ugly beauty the LC350 is, they can't have asked for a better welcome than that.
Owned a 350 in my loony 20's,in the 80's. Couldn't fault it,brakes,acceleration,handling,looks,perfect! I bought another one in the later 90's because of such fond memories,but alas,I landed a wrong'un.It has sadly been standing static ever since.If anyone has a spare engine in reasonable condition,even in a box,in bits,for not a lot of money,I might be interested.{Kent area}
I had a total of 5 Lc's (250, 350 and YPVS) over the years and if I was to have a 2nd bike, I would by another tomorrow. My favourite was my '83 350lc in standard tune with a fairing and belly pan added. On a twisty road, I could keep up with and pass 750's and 900's. Rear shock could be a bit soft and wallowy but it was just a case of throwing the bike about like you meant it. Best memory was going airborne at 105mph over the crest of a hill. Scared me shitless at the time, but laughed later. Various niggly reliability problems included exhaust gaskets blowing and the exhaust studs breaking when trying to change the gaskets, Crankshaft bearing and crank oil seals and the obligitary rebore every 25000 miles. Oh, the nostalgia.... My YPVS models were a different story. One I bought new after my 350LC was nicked and it never gave me any problems. It was definately smoother than the old LC, but was a bit sterile with it. The other had been messed around with and badly tuned and wouldn't pull cleanly below 6000 rpm and was a pain in the arse to ride. Sold it quickly. I would have another standard 350LC in a minute.
The best...from a time in my life when it was all about thrills, looking back my memories are of warm summer days and nights, ringing it's neck all over the place, underage drinking, parties, the 'fit lasses' that used to hang out at the next village, rose coloured spectacles...maybe, but the combination of late teenage 'enthusiasm' and a bike that just encouraged you to wheely and tear around all the time....heaven, had 2 350lc's and a 250lc almost 20years ago now. Still own and ride bikes and have just bought another 350lc to restore, and relive my youth on. OK not the most reliable of bikes, but I beleive it was mostly down to the way they were fettled and then thrashed..usually from the moment they were fired up...lets face it our yellow friends invested vast amounts of Yen in the design and build of these machines and no sooner did we take delivery of their hardwork then we ripped them apart, added a set of spannies, aftermarket filters and started the abuse (not the way they had inteneded). Anyone who hasn't owned or at least had a good ride on a LC has missed out! Ray.
best fun ive ever had i have an 89 powervalve which has been restored from front to back at silly amounts of money i originally bought it to potter about on but!once on the windy coast roads of west scotland im off like a bat out of hell.its so funny watching the boy racers on there R6 and blades trying to get a way from me.you cant beat the lcs well maybe on running costs but its got what i need
owned for 13 years only let me down once.its seen off bigger bikes lots of times.ive never had to spend alot of money on it but i think its about time i pampered it abit.it would be great to hear of any help/tips or adive on restoring my pride and joy
