I payed €100 for my 1988 Daihatsu Charmant 1300. I definetly got value for my money. The Toyota K-engine is very reliable and a piece of cake to fix. Mine has very little rust compared to japanese cars of the same age.

Well, of course the Charmant is not a wonderful car, and I sure wouldnt have purchased one new in 1988, however, right now Daihatsu Carmants make excellent cheap transportation. Much better than an old european car.

Having owned my charmant through my formative driving years from 92-96 and had no major problems, I could honestly say that if somebody offered me my car (C31 AHN) back I'd have it back tommorrow, as long as any of the later owners have managed to change the timing belt as I couldn't and it had done 155,000 miles.
