Had my 2002 Corsa 1.2 16v engine, since it was six months old, and had one before it for yonks. This one has needed more done to it I.e. gear stem replaced, and front then later rear suspensions replaced ( maybe should blame the state of the Derby roads for that, but the previous corsa never needed these things done). I must say though, these corsas run and handle well and I notice a big difference with the 16v engine, great to drive considering its only 1.2. the main thing for me though is that I know that is it going to start every time I get in it!! Neither of my corsas have ever failed to start.
feels good to handle, reliable
quite often takes 10 seconds or more to recognise the key, before it will start

I have had my corsa 1.0 Life for nearly 2 years and never reallyhad a problem with it. It was a great cheap run around to get to work and the occassional long-distance trip. However it is currently in the garage having blown the head gasket, timing chain, and damaged the valves as well....costing me a bloody fortune which i dont have! Absolute waste of time. considering it is only 5 years old and done 65k i wouldt expect this much to g wrong with it!
ive got a corsa at the moment old one but great for cheap motoring does like it says on the tin ;) needs a wee bit welding for mot each year but thats about all, mind its now 13 years old never get a ford lasting that long
cheap,basic
needs the off bit of welding

I have had my new Corsa for over a year now. I had enough of old cars letting me down so I spent my savings on something a bit more reliable. Its a 1.2 so its a bit slow but very economical on fuel and great to through round corners. Being a new model, it has been recalled twice, nothing major. I've had no problems yet (touch wood) but some evil kid smashed my wing mirror and I've found it hard to replace. (I hope they get 7 years bad luck!) I think its a great little car with lots of boot space and stylish looks. C'mon!
Would never have a corsa again, mine was 10 years old when I bought it and it cost me over a grand in the first year! Slow, hard to park (no power steering) I ended up with muscles the size of a house and a constant backache from trying to park the damn thing.
I bought a 98 1.0 5dr base model with 26k on the clock, privately for £2900 in 2001.Corky, as we call him, has now done 53k and in all the time we have owned him we have replaced the back box twice the cat once and just last month we replaced the crank sensor, which we acquired from the Vauxhall spares firm in essex as it was over £15 cheaper inc of next day delivery postage than in rip off lincoln from the main dealers where we live.I have serviced Corky myself every 10k using Unipart spares including fully synthetic oil and he has repaid us with gr8 economy and reliability so much so that we have passed him on to our youth rather than him going out and getting something that I would always be under fixing.Just to finish, what a gr8 little basic AtoB car that often thinks he's a lot bigger especially on the open road,HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This is the < 1 ltr Sting 3 cylinder thing. It has cost me a small fortune in engine mangement issues and sensors - incredible unreliability and very costly engine electronics. Vauxhall/GM who ever they are have foisted a real cripple on us - leave the damn thing alone, no matter how cheap it is to insure for the youngster - it'll cost you a fortune in other ways, and leave them starnded on the road side.
I have had my Corsa CDTI 1.3 for 6 months 54 plate and all I can say is Brilliant, love the car ,love the performance and love the fuel consuption about 70 to the gallon. I use my loacl garage for servicing as main dealers will rip you of. I find there are loads of parts companys selling Vauxhall like parts at the fraction of the price which also I think are of better quality. If you have one you will never look back
had corsa sting for 5 years failed every year on emmisions. Last year cost £600 for new air mas meter O2 sensor and cat. Just failed again this year on emmisions. Also EMC always coming on but always same thing showing (air mass meter) even after having new one fitted. Other wise a good car only other things needed replacing back box and water pump . \\but because of emisions would'nt have another one given
Bought a Club 1.2i 16v Auto, T plate,1999, and had a few pricey problems at the beginning, however bought from a reputable garage so warranty covered most of the cost. However, i'm still very happy with my corsa and it's a very reliable little car. It's power steering is great and feels like a safe and solid car even for it's size!.
I'm trading up now though as i want a meatier engine...i can get a lot from the 1.2 16v engine on mine, but now want just a little bit more to play with!. Apart from that no other problems.
I've got to recommend a corsa though, especially the Auto's as they are such a smooth ride and transmission is great too.
1.4i 16v Sport(1998). 37000miles from new. Serviced annually. Praising cars reliability up until last year when everything just went wrong. First the secondary air pump went (£300), then the ERV went (£300), followed by waterpump (£200) which soaked the cam belt (£50), and now car in garage for head gasket (£300-600 ??). Before all this happened, the car just had standard parts replaced i.e. exhaust, brake pads, and a set of front tires. Thought i was an exception but not according to other Corsa owners. Conclusion - Don't bother with Corsas !
99' CORSA 1.4 SPORT 16V. only bought it last week for a bargain at bang on £2000. no problems yet. very quick off the mark but lacks in top end. getting a k&n induction kit to give it a little boost. cheap kits and many of them.....can afford to be very picky. cars got it all wiv extras such as A/C, heated elec mirrors, e/w etc. drives very smooth, just worried that my head gasket dont blow cuz its common on corsa,s. never mind though, if i get any probs wiv teh engine ill be glad to chuck a 2 litre in their!
I HAVE OWNED "HENRY" MY 93 L REG CORSA FOR OVER 2 YEARS NOW, AND CAN HONESTLY SAY HE HAS GIVEN ME VERY LITTLE TROUBLE APART FROM THE ODD REPLACING OF THINGS DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. HE HAS A 1.2 ENGINGE WHICH IS SURPRISINGLY QUITE NIPPY. I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND A CORSA, IT HAS BEEN AN IDEAL FIRS CAR
I've had (and still own) two 1.0 litre versions from new - a Corsa B Club and a Corsa C Life. The B is three years old now and has been 100% reliable but the baulky gearbox makes it less pleasant to drive than the new box Vauxhall fitted to the C. Overall the C is a much better car with imoproved ride and handling, steering, gearbox and interior room. The alloy wheels on the Life are prone to kerb damage as they have no rim lip, but there are plenty of replacements on eBay. Air conditioning is surprsingly effective and only seems to affect performance on long inclines. Expect 95+ mph and 52+ mpg (but not at the same time). 1 litre engine is an all-alloy gem and is quite capable of keeping up with other traffic although acceleration is not stupendous so overtaking becomes a matter of timing and skill. Thoroughly recommended buy.

Nightmare car - spent 4K on the car and another 2K on maintenance over two years. It has blown a head gasket, thrown off a cam belt, water pump, various electrical faults. Maybe I have just been unlucky.

I have had a T Reg Corsa 1.4 CDX for the last year whilst build quality is quite good this car is a nightmare to repair. The engine design has been deliberately contrived to make it impossible for an owner to carry even fairly basic repairs. If you are forced to go to a main dealer prepare to be ripped off big time. I am getting rid of this car as soon as I can.
