Hi, I just bought my Morris 1100 5-6 days ago. I havent got it registered or anything yet but I bought it from a family friend for only $200, running and everything! i replaced the exhaust manifold which was only $40, and have sanded it all back ready to paint already. My father owns a crash repair shop and he's going to paint it all for me which makes it a lot easier, at first I was going to paint it black, but have now decided to keep its original colour grey with a couple of GT racing strips over it!! The only problem I have with it is the gearbox, which so happens to be the most expensive thing on them as to change it you need to pull the whole motor out and im no mechanic, I do have a friend who is on an apprenticeship so I may see if he'll help. The cars are great, they're so easy to work on and can be a lot of fun doing them up!
I've had my Morris 1100 for around 8 years now & I just love driving it! I bought him for $850 when I was a student & he has always been a great car. He handles corners like a sports car because he's so low to the ground that he hugs the corner. I don't really have a name for him, although he likes to be called Baby every now & then :). I like to call him my older, reliable English boyfriend. Parts are easy & cheap to find, but maybe that's because my mechanics have about 4 spare 1100's in their garage. Henry (my mechanic), says that they're not worth anything these days, but he still keeps the spares. ;) I keep the engine well maintained & very rarely have any problems, although the body work needs a lot of work. One day, I would like to have the body restored & re-sprayed but the quote I've had is a bit too much at the moment ($5000AUD). They are a great pleasure to drive. :)
My 1100 is named annie after it's first owner, my grandpa's aunt. This car has been in my family since brand new off the showroom floor. It had sandy beige paint & it sat low to the ground.(Later I found out it was so low because the hydrolastics had been slowly leaking) I painted her red, put 1 1/4 sports exhaust & ramflo air filter on & went cruising. That was ten years ago. She now sits under tarps in my grandads back yard (he was the second owner, I am the third). I am determined to restore her to her original state. Anyone who can help me find new parts (I live in Australia) would be appreciated!
My Morris 1100's name is Boris. The guy I bought it off was about to take it to the wreckers as he couldn't find anyone to sell it to. He offered it to me for $100(to months earlier he was asking $1500 for it). It's got a cooper 's' engine, sports steering wheel and a cd player(I added the cd). It's an awsome little car and his prety cute too.
I named my morris amanda 1100 because the car is my first and amanda is my first girl friend,I love mini's because they are nice and small they have a great ass just like my amanda the morris is a outstanding laddie,
