After one year of ownership, I still love this car!
It is the top of the trim range so comes with leather heated electrically operated front seats, wood trim, 7 speaker stereo (7th = base speaker in boot!) and parking sensors along with the more standard fittings in the range including cruise control, dual climate control, rain sensing wipers, curtain airbags, heated electric mirrors, electric sunroof, etc, etc - all models are fairly well spec'd!
Estate load area has a remote electrically opening and closing tailgate and is a well designed / proportioned area with strong lockable underfloor storage (unless you fit the optional space saver wheel which swallows this space) under which the compressor / tyre foam repair kit is also housed.
Rear seats fold totally flat with the use of only one hand on the operation of a single lever on each side of the 60/40 split seat.
I have 17" optional alloys fitted which does make the ride a little firm and possibly slightly noisier at motorway speeds but not intrusively so.
There is excellent storage provision in the cabin space and the whole feel of the trim and the way it is fitted reeks quality, comparable to any BMW.
Small gripes - - No auto dimming rear view mirror (standard fit on late 2004 models onwards I believe), - No fuel computer - poor for a top of the range car, Nowhere to rest your right foot when on cruse control, - To remotely operate the rear tailgate from within the car, you have to remove the ignition key and press the keyfob button. (a dashboard mounted button perhaps overridden by the handbrake would have been so much more convienient - again I believe is adressed in late 2004 models onwards).
The car handles extremely well, is very stable under heavy braking and in high winds and inspires confidence in torrential rain, better than an equivilent Mondeo in my opinion.
Dealer service is second to non. Very impressive so far. Service costs are a little high but tolorable.
My particular car is fitted with optional metallic paint, rear load area rubber mat, space saver spare wheel, a "city pack" - mouldings on doors, body kit- includes side skirts and deeper front and rear bumpers, roof rails (now standard fit on the very latest models) and as previously mentioned 17" alloys.
Would I buy another? - Having driven Ford Mondeo Ghia & Ghia X estates for 8 years prior to this car, you can bet on it!
Stylish, superb build quality, space
Purchase cost, no self levelling suspension, no fuel computer, no auto diming rear view mirror

2.0 litre petrol, Executive
Owned for 1 year.
have notched up 220kkm in a 1988 accord exi and have had no major problems aside from a grilled sensor, and suspension blocks which were spent. It runs on and seems to want to go forever.Compression is no longer same as new but fuel consumption stays pretty low for the power (8.5litres).Maybe not as comfy as some same price cars but fewer problems.
This was the last of 5 Accord that I owned over the years. It was comfortable and totally reliable. The earlier saloon was not good on corners, but this version was much improved. I had automatic boxes in the last two Accords. They gave no trouble although I topped 70,000 miles in this last Accord - and I used it tow a caravan across France.
IVE GOT 2 ACCORDS. A 1982 1.6 AUTO THATS 100% RELIABLE AND RUST FREE AND A 1985 1.8 AUTO THAT WAS MEGA CHEAP LOW MILES DRIVES LIKE BRAND NEW AND NEAR RUST FREE. IVE HAD THE 1.8 SINCE I PASSED MY DRIVING TEST AND I LOVE IT FOR ITS RELIABILITY, COMFORT AND EXCELLENT BUILD QUALITY. AIR CON, CRUISE, ELECS. ALL THIS AND ITS ANONYMOUS SO IVE NEVER ONCE BEEN STOPPED BY THE CONSTABULARY! A SOUND MOTOR.
Hi all you Honda Fans, I have a 1995 UK Spec 2.0ILS Accord. I have to admit it it's truely a wicked car. The car is modified with a massive 4" twin Exuahust system, and water vapor kit, and turbo jet fan. Finished in gleaming sliver with blue neons, uv and lights. With Lexus style rear lights and sitting on 17"OZ Alloys. Truely a headturner. Even guys in BMW's and other flash cars look at it. To end the message I just have to say all you guys have GREEEAT taste in motors keep it up my fellow Honda Lovers. If you would like to look at my Honda email me and I will send you pics, and let you know where to take your Honda to make it look really sexy.
Perfect just perfect, but there are only parts for the saloon model and nothing for the hatch. I hope someone can email me in the uk with some sills and some trim. And if someone has a saloon or hatch 76 R to 79 V reg for sale email me!!!
My first car was a '89 Accord LXi. After me it had pased from differents owners and all of them treated it really bad. The body was all ruined but the engine is still alive. No matters how bad you treat it, it will always come back from the grave. It always respond like a new car. I still have it and I have plans to rebuilt the body and leave it as new. This car is the best car I ever drive in my life.
I love these cars - I have owned 3 hatchbacks and now own a sedan. They're great, they're easy to work on. Yes, sometimes they have problems, but how many other late 70s compact cars (import or domestic) even still running? You could get a more reliable car, but it would have to be 10 years newer. These cars outlast anything from the same time period.
I love my car and I wish I had the money to spend on getting her done up. Unfortunately we're having to sell her. She's an old Hondamatic so she eats quite a lot but she's very reliable and attracts not a few stares with her funky chrome bumpers and vinyl roof.
I have owned an Accord Aerodeck EXi '89 for the last 10 years. It has been the best car I have had in 50years driving. The body still has no signs of rust anywhere and the engine after doing 104,000 still sounds and runs as it did 10 years ago. Reluctantly it is now in the For Sale ads. and it's the car I will miss mostly of all that I have ever owned.
Superb engineering. never leak oil, never seem to go wrong, no rattles. Made like a swiss watch, better than any BMW or even, dare I say Mercedes. PERFECTION - CREVER RITTLE SODS AINT THEY !!!
An ugly car, very ugly. The Honda accord was a lot more popular in the states then the UK, maybe it evoked some cult status over there, because it was so ugly it might have been seen as cute to some people.
In the 1970's this was quite a modern car with what could only be described as sophisticated styling......how times change.
This car actually was a pretty good runner with a maximum speed of 100mph. You really should'nt be looking to pay more than about £1000 for one and it would have to be in mint condition for you to pay that amount.

My 1980 Honda Accord EXi was a gift when my mini died. Rasberry pink Velour interior, reliable mechanically but sadly the bodywork had seen much much better days. MOT meant it had to go. Replaced with 1990 Honda Accord 2.0i which got smashed up the day before my 30th birthday. On the lookout for a replacement!
Owned for 4 years.

Hi there!
I have had several cars in my life, ranging from Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Pugeot to Honda. The Honda Accord 2.0 EXi is the latest one and is from 1989. I can not say that BMW, Mercedes and Jaguars are bad cars, it would be like talking to a brick wall, but now I am considering valu for money! I've had my Accord for the past 7 years now and couldn't be laughing more. A proper friend in life. It has never let me down in any way! Apart from regular service I have not added a penny to it, and I got it for £650 in mint condition. That is far away from the price I paid for my more luxurious cars which I also had to spend a lot more money on after purchase. I am saying this from my own experiance nothing more nothing less. It is definitely a friend for life and I will be happy to keep it for another 7 years if it lets me to... Considering the age of it I think the shape is timeless and it performes just as good as many new cars... so I'm not complaining
