Hi to all Daewoo Laganza owners .I have a 2.0CDX with the cd shuttle system. I am very happy with the cars looks and performance, and not to mention the comfortable plush interior.I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 18 MONTHS. Firstly if anyone could give me some ivaluable info , regarding what make engine, is in this car .Secondly i am getting some shocking , fuel consumption compared to, what i have read on reviews here. What is the solution to this?Is there a workshop manual available for this car?If anyone can answer any of my queries i would be most greatful if you could email me. Thank you in advance.REGARDS STORMINNORMAN
Hi, well im a cab driver and the leganza has been and still is a very reliable motor. There is not a day goes by where someone says "This is a nice car mate, what is it" and for a six year old motor with people in and out all the time that aint bad! This is my second leganza as a cab as someone took the front off my last one as he jumped a red light. That had done 190000 and the present one has got about 85000 so another couple of years in the old girl yet.Had a nubira before that, same engine but the body styling does not compare to the good looks of the leganza. As a young lad and his mates said to me when i pulled up outside his house last week,"Blimey, didnt realise ive rang Flash Cabs" nuff said. 6.
Hi, I have a 97 (R) Leganza but, before I killed the clutch, it was perfect. I love this car. Leather and walnut interior, you'd pay extra for this sort of stuff on snob-cars. Excellent!!
Where to start, bought my w reg cdx early 2003 with 17,000 on the clock as a replacement for my ford scorpio 2.9. Since then this car has never failed me no matter how hard I've pushed it, from crawling around town to some VERY fast motorway cruising (well into three figures). Performance improves a lot with some nitrous oxide, put a bodykit on and this car is a REAL head turner. Fuel economy isnt too bad, and servicing can be cheap depending on who does it. Given the choice again I'd take the leganza over my scorpio any day.
I thought that I was getting a great deal on the 1999 Daewoo...come to find out...what seems to good to be true...usually is. Car has 52,000 miles on it and timing belt went. Which lead into 2 bent valves, which come to find out have to be shipped from Korea...So, the cheap car has been an EXPENSIVE project.
Considering the price (< £6000 for a 14 month old car) the Leganza is an excellent car. My particular beef is that the manoueverability and rear view is not great. Came with a radio/cassette which will not come out. I think the previous owner cracked the facia trying the same thing. Great things about it are the climate control and traction control (could have had a nasty accident without it). Wish I had known about the CDX-E(?) which includes a multi stack CD player and satellite navigation!!! My ratings are a bit of guesswork as I have only had the car a couple of months. I decided I would rather have a 51 reg Daewoo than an S reg Vauxhall Vectra with high mileage. BTW you may have difficulties if you are tall as I have installed a Scholl body massager and my head nearly hits the roof (I am 5'5").
Hi, bought my 4 year old Leganza 2.0 CDX manual in the beginning of July this year. I paid £5000 for it with 12 months parts/labour warranty and 18 months MOT. Yes you read that right, 18 months MOT! The deal i struck with the supplying dealer was that as they didn't have time to re-MOT it before i picked it up, they would do this at the expiry of the current certificate which still had 6 months to run. Can't be bad! I've had 3 niggly faults: First, the rear fog lamps came on at will, this was traced to a relay which was duly replaced and promptly failed the following day! Secondly, the screen washers packed up which turned out to be a blocked filter in the washer bottle and third the intermittent mode on the wipers gave up on the journey home from having the washers sorted! Hmmm!?! This was a wiring fault? Otherwise it's a great car for the money, economical 25 mpg to and from work (2 miles each way!) and 40-45 mpg on the open road. Even hard driving still gives 35-40 mpg. For "hard", read lead-footed, cruising at 90+ and not wasting time reaching that speed! Oh yeah, that Lotus-tuned suspension makes for great handling too! My previous car? A 1989 Jaguar Sovereign 3.6. The Daewoo compares very favourably with what i still consider to be one of the finest cars on the road and i would definitely buy another. Hope this helps any prospective owners make their mind up to buy one of these great value cars. Any questions? E-mail me and i'll reply with as much info as i can. Likewise if anyone would like to set up a Leganza owners club or knows of the existence of one?
i bought mine for 2800 r reg. cdx 24k on clock fsh. needed new brake pads and the remote didn't work else a1. if i had to complain about anything it would be noise at high revs. auto goes into 2nd a little quick from standing start and poor parts available. but it's alot of car for your money.
My LEGANZA STANDS IN THE PATH FOR SALE Reason:- My new VW PASSAT ESTATE has arrived and I reluctantly have to sell what I consider one of the best value and large family cars on the market. No problems since I purchased this vehicle and I just hope for a appreciative buyer.
Engines are noisey at speed, economy only fair but high value content, mine is a 00 with leather, cd ,traction, alloys, c/control,etc etc the list goes on--a fantastic overall compellingly good car.
The Leganza is a very solid car, well manufactured and set at a resonable price. I prices range from around £14,000 to £17,000 for the estate version.
The engine is very quite you can hardly hear it, only when you begin motorway driving do you notice the engine's nose.
The fuel economy of this vehicle was good, but i did find it was lacking in comfort which Daewoo must have comprised for equipment in the car.

I had a 1998 Daewoo Leganza CDX fully loaded. I now have 93,000 miles on it and I haven't had to do any repair work on it yet. Seems like a good car still to me!

Had car from new,now done 47K. Repeated problems with handbrake, 3 sets of cables under warranty, new discs & pads, still fails MOT for handbrake. I suspect it has suffered by being 'serviced' by Daewoo muppets. A comfortable and well equipped car, easy to drive, good stereo, sunroof superfluous. Watch out for poor finish on alloy wheels and revised timing belt renewal interval (tensioners bump cost up but are needed). Daewoo customer service appalling before GM takeover, hope things improve now. Parts expensive, usually low 30's mpg. Gearbox vibration can be cured by shimming up the box underneath.

I like so many other Daewoo laganza owners, have fallen foul to changes in service intervals.Inspect cambelt at 40.000miles-change at 60.000miles as per service book(my car is 1999 reg).BUT NOW Daewoo say inspect at 30.000 change at 40.000 miles.they have moved the goal post's, and what can you do...nothing, It cost me £1350 to have this put right JAN 2003. DAEWOO NO LONGER FUNCTION, they went BANG 8th OCT'02. GM-DAEWOO FORMED OCT18 '02. I have phoned them and they don't wish to HELP AT ALL. So take note for you will not get any help from GM-DAEWOO. REPLACE YOUR BELT [Log in to view email] MILES, OR A BIG BILL WILL BE ON IT'S WAY TO YOU. OH IT TOOK THEM 10 DAYS AT THE DAEWOO GARAGE IN CARDIFF SOUTH WALES UK.TO REPAIR MY CAR. My car had only done 48.000 miles and at the 40.000 servie the belt should have been checked. I HAVE BEEN TUCKED UP!.

I bought this car to bridge the gap as I waited for the new BMW 5 series. I still have the car four years later with 52000 miles on the clock. This is a clear indication that this car is wonderful to drive and I have no regrets choosing this over the 5 series. However I do hope that eventually oncce the company has stabalised the residual values will pick up as will the company so that this excelent cars can sell the way they deserve to.
