Many of the people leaving reviews about the Sony Vaio laptops are mentioning the short battery life, yet all have missed the reason for this.
The Sony Vaio is as far as I know, the only laptop computer to use 2 lamps for screen illumination and is both the reason for the sharp and very colourful screens they have and thus the shorter battery life than other laptops - that second lamp has to get it's power from somewhere !!!
As the old saying goes, you don't get something for nothing. The Vaio has one of the sharpest screens around, especially the glass screens now found on their latest laptops.
Solution, carry a couple of spare (fully charged) batteries around to compensate.
Yes, more money spent, but you will still have the sharpest image of any laptop on the market.
OH MY GOD I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A GOOD COMPUTER!! i bought this comp 3 days ago and im so impresed its damn fast lots of memory and can do prety well what ever i want. i would say sony has set the standerd for a great computer!
I have recently purchased a Vaio NV105 and from the short time I've had it (although it's been used extensively), I have to say that it has performed exactly as it should. I had no problems with it overheating or the performance. I think Sony may well have sorted out most of the problems mentioned so far! If I did have to make one point, it would be battery life, which is only a couple of hours... That said, they do give you plenty of options within the Menu, to preserve this as much as possible. Well done Sony!!!
Mine gets very hot and the battery lasts about an hour. I got a replacement after the first one only lasted 24hrs and then packed up! The design has obvious flaws, the feet colapse if you push the laptop forward slightly. it might as well be sat on two matchboxes.
Its very slow, over priced has a tiny low quality screen and terrible standard equipment and it also gets exremely hot when used for more than an hour. Don't buy one try an ibook its so pretty and colorful It does not overheat and can survive being dropped 4ft of a Golf GTi roof (don't try this at home kids) plus it blindingly fast and has Airport which must be the best Wireless networking
the sony nv209 was the best buy I ever made. Not only is it a great notebook with all the features (dvd, cd-rw,floppy disk drive and magic gate memory stick slot)but it also looks amazing, finished in polished silver. the only flaw is the short battery life (2 and a 1/4 hours)I rate it much higher than the apple i-book which is not compatible with many other devices (mp3 players etc)
It looks great but there are some real problems. No 1 is it overheats - I think the heat cracked my display! So far, I've gotten no satisfaction from Sony. I'd be interested if others had this problem - and what can be done abou
