I am on my third Dyane returning after bad experience of a modern car, not made to be repaired and full of uneeded complication just designed to go wrong. Dyanes are practical, reliable, economical with more performance than people suspect. That extra 6BHP over 2cv makes a lot of difference. Dyanes are rare cars now, overshadowed by the cutesyness of the 2cv. Look after one, add electronic ignition and dont forget to grease those kingpins and keep on top of body rust and It will serve you faithfully for many years and you will be hooked.
I've had My dyane for ten years now and have never been so happy with a car. Recently I have got another and an acadiane van. I have changed a chassis on one and have been in the owners club for 10 years. They have never let me down, i always service them myself and they are supremely practical, if things are too big just open the roof to get them in, handles extremely well, is faster than most people realise, which is why they always pull out on you. Spares are in expensive but some bits are getting rarer now, and in my opinion are better than a 2CV all round. Dyanes and 2CV's are always repairable, it does not matter what is wrong with them, they can always be repaired with a little time and money, if you dont have this time or money pass the car onto someone who does, there are so few of these cars around now please help save all the ones we can.
I love my Dyane, bought for me by my father in 1982 when she was about 18 months old. Unfortunately our over-weight cat jumped on the roof this week and made rather a tear. Does anyone know where I can obtain a decent roof (preferably yellow)? This is the first major problem we've had with our dear old car.
Essentially a 2CV, but featuring such ostentatious luxuries as wind up windows and a hatchback. Sold well but never really captured the hearts of the public like the 2CV.

My first was a Dyane 4. I have owned 3 others. V comfortable, almost impossible to fault apart from vulnerability in a crash. Been camping in Spain with it. Hit major pothole in Les Landes, got all I needed down the road. Owing to illness was driving from S coast to Lancahire every other weekend for months - all Mway driving at 80 mph

Dyane vans sold in Spain (Acadyanes )had wind up windows. Also Spanish and Iranian Dyanes had sliding rear windows. I have modded 3 Irish Dyanes to have sliding windows in the '80s. I still have 2 sets of rear glass.

A posher, faster, and in my opinion, better handling car than the 2cv with more weight further back due to hatchback. Superb fun to drive but make sure you rustproof it! Engine noise insulation is non existant but wind noise is far less significant than on the 2CV. Watch out for worn kingpins and rusty inner rear wings. Overall, its a truly superb car t5o own and drive

I'm on my second Dyane and once had a 2cv. It is pretty impressive on the motorway reaching 70-86 MPH depending on wind! Louder than 2cv in my experience due to no soundproofing. Rust is bad unless car is protected.Fuel cons 47MPg. Its lovely

A cut above the 2CV, easy to fix and cheap to run. It choked me to sell it to the scrap man for £20!
