An excellent sea boat, in fact it's stability has become the benchmark against which all other boats are marked even today.

A good performer, although suffers a little from the 'large foresail small main' sail layout popular of the era. Windward performance is good if not a little wet.

Probably the biggest disadvantage is that the 32 is so popular and well sought after that values gave become quite high - good for existing owners, but not for people looking to buy. An equivalent lesser known boat (a Sparkman and Stephens design perhaps) can be had for significantly less.

These boats are still being made today with few changes to the original design, so spare parts are not a problem, and owners can even have the interior completely refitted to 'as new' specification.

Pretty looking boat, which is capable of withstanding the worst of weather conditions. While it was originally designed as a cruiser, it can often be seen racing. Accomodation is comfortable, although headroom is a little restricted.

Ideal singlehander predictable, steady at close quarters; low freeboard ideal for picking up moorings. Small enough to be handy, large enough to be confortable.
All solid construction, no cardboard decks here!
Relatively expensive to build, so your investment will not be undermined by a glut of similar designs on the market. Classic lines and class racing also keep values up. It'll do for me.

This boat is very small by modern
standards (comparable in interior volume
to a Catalina 28!), but it has beautiful
lines, and is very stable. She is not
very fast in light air (again, compare
to a modern design) but is very well
balanced and forgiving. It is a perfect
cruising boat for a couple with one or
two kids. At times we had as many as
four adults and two kids stay overnight,
but that is really tight. The interior
is nicely finished (i.e., not
reminiscent of a refrigerator!)
