If you want a nice cheap car, to run to the shops and back in, then buy a micra! But if your not afraid of a bit of work, and dont mind having to fix problems on what seems an all to regular basis, then the Mini is the car for you! I have owned 2 Mini's in a year of driving, and have spent most weekends working under the bonnet fixing something that has gone wrong.
But when she is working, then its time to play! All the boyracers in my area pull up at lights next to me, and stare thinking that they can easily beat this tiny little car sitting next to them, away from the lights. Then they realise that the car may be small, but that means a good power-weight ratio, and a lot more acceleration than them. There are very few boyracers in my area that have beaten my "little" car in a straight race from the lights!
They are brillant cars, I own a Mayfair at the mo, with a slightly mod'id 998 metro engine. Im running on 10" 1974 alloys, and it looks class, just like all the 10"!!
You have not lived till you have driven a Mini! Keep on Mini'ing
Ive had a mini since I was 15 and I will always have one. They are the best car ever. At present I have 2 one is a 25 which I am rebuilding and strugling to find information on. I have noticed that some parts are now starting to become harder to get hold of mainly because they are becoming a rarer car now. From past experience if you put an MG metro engine in with a good quality stage 1 tune up there is plenty of power and reliability is still good. The brakes have to be upgraded though and a servo is highly recomended. The car is easily under estimated and will quite easily cane the nova boy's, then if a car can past on straights take them down the lanes and you'll be laughing.
i got a 1000 for free because someone wasn't willing to give it the tlc it needed and deserved, jaffa (he's orange) has a big hole in a front wing (which i 'm going to chrome ring and call an induct) he is in desperate need of much much more and it will be a long while till he looks all spanky again but jaffa's worth it, i love him and you all know how it feels to see bit's go on and look just how you dreamed they would! wish me luck!!!
i've had minis since i've been driving (be it only two years) and i've found them to be great cars apart from the obligatory oil leak from somewhere!! they are also great fun to drive the only thing is people think small car, mini, must be an old granny. this is not the case as an Audi found out. I was going down a country lane doing 45mph as it was pouring with rain and an Audi decided to overtake me, this P***ed me off a bit so i thought sod it put my foot down overtook him on the next roundabout and shot off into the sunset(with four people in the car!!) that was until he overtook me when we hit the motorway. They never did have enough top end unless you modify them (which there is loads of potential for!!) Overall great Cars!!
The greatest car of all time - the only thing that stops it from being perfect is creeping rust. Everything about it is 'human' in a way that modern cars can't match, the handling is superb, and it goes for 250 miles on 16 pounds worth of petrol.
It's sad that it goes out of production this year - Catherham should license it, Lotus Seven-style, and make it forever.
i think the car is absolutely tremendous and should be loved by millions more than it is.i am only 13 and own a 1965 morris cooper s and it is a great car with a lot of modding potential.mine has full leather seats,13in alloys and a big bore exhaust.thank you . crossy
I have a standard 1000cc mini and it's so much fun. I raced an Astramax van the other day, It was a bit quicker in a straight line, but the Mini was 10 times faster round the bends. You have to drive one to the limit before you die.
What a motor! These cars are terrific fun and are still beating the competition on value for money and opinion polls. The only down side is that they are pretty cramped. I'm 6'2 and I need the seat right back and no-one can sit behind me as there is about 1 inch of leg room. The fuel cap is raised from the body of the car so if you were to roll it, the top would be knocked off and petrol would go everywhere. I bit dangerous me thinks but they handle well so it is unlikely that they will roll. Thank God! A great car at all levels of spec. I recommend them to anyone.
IVE NEVER GOTTEN OVER MY FIRST CAR AS I STILL HAVE THE BACKACHE FROM BEING CRUSHED INTO THE TINY SEAT.ONLY BUY IF YOU ARE 5.5FT!!IT WAS CUTE THOUGH AND USUALLY RELIABLE EXCEPT IN RAIN.
This was my first car and I cried when it went to my cousin. It never let me down and only was a little bit shakey if we had torential rain. They are the best first car to have ever and I am going to buy myself a luxury cooper when i can afford it.
