Excellent sailing performance from a safe, stable boat that is particularly impressive up-wind (not bad for a twin keeler. Accommodation limited but well thought out. Build quality good (but beware variable internal finish on "kit" boats).

Owned a Duette for 10 years and very happy with it. Limited, but well thought out accommodation and good sailing performance; stiff, stable and good up-wind. Excellent build quality. Few negatives; outboard well a bit of a pain and space under the cockpit rather inaccesible but overall very happy with the boat.

The one thing that makes the Hunter stand out from all the rest is the unbelievable size of the accomodation. Every single inch of space inside the cabin is put to good use.
The rear quarterberth is very large, with plenty of headroom. There are two berths in the dining area, and a further two 'childrens' berths in the forepeak. In addition to this, there is a full size heads compartment, and a galley both of which would be respectable in a boat 10 ft longer.
The boat is not particularly sleek looking in the water. This is largely because of the tall cabin, which provides 6 ft of headroom, and also the large windows in the front of the cabin, which help make it light and airy.
Sailing performance is 'average' but the boat feels very stable and safe in the water. In fact the boat's structurally almost identical successor, the Hunter 24.5 has achieved an Offshore Category 2 rating.
A good, safe and well built family boat.

My husband and I have owned a Duette 23
for 7 years - as our first sailing boat
we could not have asked for a more
forgiving, stable little boat.
