The comment from an unknown sender concerning the "Folkboat Debutante" caught my eye. My father, Howard Reisinger, sold and imported the Debutante sloops, a "refined" folkboat built under contract in Denmark in the 1950s and sold by Reisinger Yachts International. I would truly like to know who owns and enjoys one today. It was a fine sailing boat, and represented in many ways the end of an era, with the advent of fiberglass. TLC required, yes. Still, no fiberglass sailboat has quite the feel of wood, which is, as my father so often said, "alive."

I have sailed all over the world in larger yachts, but my recently acquired 30-year old wooden Folkboat is certainly the best sailing fun I have experienced in years.

Certainly wet but lots of fun. Need to be very flexible and verticaly challenged if going below!

My first boat, a 1958 Folkboat
Debutante can take anything you throw
at it so I'm told. I can't go anywhere
without getting a lot of interested
lookers. Great for starters, racers or
weekenders.
