I am owner of a Marine COX 22 since 2006 and I think it is a great boat for stormy waters and the North Sea coast due to its 0,60 m kiel. I have a built in diesel Perkins 30 hp engine that it is right enough to fight against strong waters. I need but detauils from other owners with which I would like to exchange information. Speaking with 4 yrs ownership. She does really sail - in quite light winds we get over 4 knts. The foredeck is very safe to work from. Cockpit is roomy for a 22 footer; good locker space too. The 18 hp Yanmar is plenty good enough to push along in well choppy waters. Down below headroom is super I'm 6ft4. F'wd cabin has two separate over lapping berths. Heads a bit small for me but it works. Quality of joinery is very good. Well built safe stable sea going motor sailer that does sail.
Very safe seaworthy boat, great accomodation but look out for the dreaded osmosis, the concrete ballast increases the likelyhood of this problem. early models appear to have been fitted out with some non prefered marine materials really needs a large engine (20hp) to push her against a big sea.
The best boat I have ever owned an excellent sea boat.
Owned for 6 months.
