I had the chance to own the Motorsport version of the 6 series, the M635, for about 2 years and I can highly recommend it. The power of the car was fantastic, 3.5 litres and 286 bhp gave a 0-60 of around 6 secs. All this with the best modern shape BMW has made, period. Nearly all of the cars came with electric everything and leather, and with 1980's German overengineering everything is likely to still work, and go on working!

The only downside - servicing. The engine is a true motorsport engine and needs specialist servicing (including an engine out timing chain change at 100,000 miles). The weight of the car also means it is hard on brakes and suspension parts.

However, buy a good one for around £8-9,000 and nothing can beat it at the price.
