My fathers boat is a Cormandel and has on two occasion since his put it in the water, a thew weeks ago it has tryed to kill him. Oh yes this boat looks cute and small but inside is a killer! Which so far has tryed to blow him up and drown him. He had a wholesome Ohlson 26 named tifli but no no no he had to sell her and get a lil physco named blue moon! Buy this boat if you have a death wish....
Strong well built seaworthy boat with a clever user friendly interior layout, but really only suitable for two people, seperate heads is usable but cramped.Cockpit is spacious for a boat this size plus masses of locker space. Being junk rigged she is very simple to sail single handed plus it is a low tech rig cheap and easy to fix. Reaching to running she sails beautifully minimal heel no tendecy to broach, but perfomance to windward is a little disapointing. In all a safe dry very seaworthy boat, inovative and reassuring to sail. I've had my Coromandel for two seasons now, and a sound, safe and very seaworthy boat she has turned out to be. Never having sailed 'Chinese' before and doing much of my sailing solo, I have found the standard junk rig to be easy to use and very forgiving. She sails well in all attitudes except close to the wind (but then everyone starts the engine anyway). What I particularly like is her 'solid' feel in rough water, attributable to her large bilge keels and underwater lines. The cabin is well layed-out, though you need to be a midget to use the heads. If you want a safe pocket cruiser that will take you anywhere, I'd recommend one.
