Well after reading all the comments I Cant wait to go sailing. I have just bought my boat ( nip ) so any more information would be great. I have even got the tent that go,s on the stern and all the original paper work mine was made in 1965 and still got md1 which runs great. DW.

I currently own Senlis the tyler built 1965 boat. she's great for just pottering around on. the best thing about her is the fact that nothing costs much to maintain. engine parts are still available and in fairness not much goes wrong. yes she's a bit slow, but at the turn of a key the engine is up and running and your on your way again.
I own a Mirror Offshore "Senlis" Tyler build 1965 sail number 16, She has her original Volvo MD1 engine and has been fitted with an aluminium mast with spreaders ( I still have her original wooden mast) She is currently on a trailer for the winter but will go back on her mooring in April. This is my second Mirror Offshore the previous being Dell Quay build which had all the extras, including spinnaker. The previous owner had sailed her from Kent to Dartmouth and also across to Aldernay in the Channel Isles and back single handed at the age of 65 So dont be afraid to venture out, they are a capable little cruiser, good sailing (scrutto)
Hi, iv allways strugled to find information about the Mirror Offshore so iv decided to make a little website were mirror owners can chat and share views, its mirroroffshore.co.uk.
i am the proud owner of CORRIB a mirror offshore dating from 1967, she is currently under going a restoration. i am desperatly seeking copys of brochures and any technical information, please email me.
Iv had my mirror years, it bought it from my granddad, and the boat has been sat on the driveway since before I owned it, and iv just started to get her ready for water. Its an excellent basic boat, its been out the water probably 9 years, Im in the process of moving the see toilet, and doing miner repairs on the excellent simple engine, that has formed some cracks in the block were water leeks out. Then all I need to do is secure the loose fearing and service the trailer and Im ready to go. If any one has any tips for me an my mirror please email me. [Log in to view email]
I have a mirrir offshore shes Tyler Marine number 9 from 1965. She was yellow but is now blue. She tacks like a pig, sails like a pig wollows in the swell like a pig but I love her to death she gets there - eventually. She has had her inboard removed. Does anyone have advice to change her mast set up.
I bought my mirror offshore as a first boat, being a novice it transpires i couldnt have made a better choice!! It feels safe, it is well balanced,it will sail without attention to the rudder when you are going to windward. the only criticism i have, is forward visibility is poor due to the chunky design of the coachroof, however a tiller extension will fix that problem. other than that, she is an excellent boat and very learner friendly!!!!!!!!
I have been sailing my mirror offshore in the solent(Chichester)Sussex for 2 years now, and with a crusing shute up in a force 4 she sails great, a super starter yacht for anybody looking to start sailing.
Sails like a pig in a storm, makes me swear like a man, dead safe, sailed the old tub for 5 years alone, love [Log in to view email]

Although getting a bit long in the tooth now the Mirror Ofshore is a perfect first cruiser- and with its massive "loo" compartment is just bound to keep the ladies happy. (Note when loo door jams you are sailing her too hard!) Big thunping diesel will get you homw whatever - which is just as well, because with thet tiny sail area and bilge keels going to windward is a painful and very slow process. Eveything can be safely done from the cockpit or fore-hatch. Hatch cut in fwd bulkhead aids access to anchor chain. "Ticket box" added to main bulkhead outside aids stowage and gives raised seat for helming. Happy memories

1st cruiser purchased - fitted with oversized MK2 rig - went well sideways! Inboard MD1 diesel pushed it along through ANY conditions. Watch the exhaust layout you MUST fit an exhaust trap AND a substantial swan neck otherwise water WILL run back into the engine! I know ££££ ouch - A very safe dry boat but very limited sailing qualities.
