Sailed 22footer from 1989 to 1993 -First thing was to get a decent bowsprit fitted to cure her 'orrid weather helm (Did they design it to be a gaffer and find it wouldn't sell but left the mast in the same pace anyway?). Lots of void spaces behind the cockpit moulding can be accessed witha few dinghy hatches, ditto under cockpit floor for reaching stern gland. Throw out old metal tank and add plastic ditto. Decent thick bunk cushions make a world of difference. Never did find an alternative to the "straining post" in front of the WC!

Makes sailing enjoyable and safe, not the fastest but will always arrive. Very few boats have 6ft headroom when only 25ft in length.

I have owned a GRP Itchen Ferry since 1988 when I bought her for a potential trans-atlantic crossing. She is very similar to the Pardys first boat , very stable, great load carrying capacity and modest sail rig. The cockpit is very sheltered if a little smal. With her long keel she is easy to sail single handed. Two years ago I replaced and her 25 yr old Yanmar 8 with a 20HP. In the strongly tidal waters of the Dover Straights I needed more power to get home. A fast boat she is not and you soon learn to use the tides. I have sailed up up the south and east coast and the north coast of France. Never have I had a single doubt about her. She is a great single or two handed cruiser.
