I HAVE OWNED THIS 1990 CAR FOR 14 YEARS SERVICED AT HOME BY MYSELF USING GENUINE VAUXHALL PARTS IT HAS NOW DONE 150K MILES AND IS STILL GOING STRONG, ITS NEVER LET ME DOWN UP THE ROAD, AND THE ONLY PROBLEMS I'VE HAD ARE THE REAR ELECTRONIC SHOCKS DO'NT SEEM TO LAST LONG ON 3RD PAIR IN 100K MILES. N/S ELECTRIC WINDOW MOROR REPLACED AT 115K MILES S/HAND ONE FITTED EX 92' CARLTON £15. HOT START PROBLEM ON SOME AUTO CARS DOWN TO VOLTAGE DROP AT STARTER, SEEMS DUE TO AMOUNT OF CABLE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN KEY & STARTER MOTOR. EITHER CLEAN ALL CONNECTIONS OR FIT A EXTRA RELAY/MINI SOLENOID IN CIRCUIT. OTHERWISE ITS THE BEST CAR I'VE OWNED COMFORTABLE GOOD HANDLING, RELIABLE. BRILLIANT.
I have owned two Senators now, both 2.5l and have been very impressed with performance and comfort. My present model is an 88 E plate for which I paid the princely sum of £176.25 (£150 plus V.A.T.).I have also owned two Carltons which were very nice but not quite in the Senator's league.
Just bought a 24v to smoke around in. Full CD spec plus large amount of rear wheel arch missing but only £160. Drove it from Petersfield to Bolton and back immediately after buying it and it was very comfortable, great on acceleration 55-90 on the motorway and did 28 mpg even with a 90 minute crawl down ten miles of the M42. Most impressive
THIS IS MY 2ND 24V,EXCELLENT CARS,BEST VALUE 2ND HAND?HAS EVERY THING YOU NEED FROM A CAR.I ONLY PAID £420 BUT MAY NEED HEAD-GSKT.STILL CHEAP.WATCH FOR RUST/AUTO/CAM AND CHAIN WEAR, OTHER WISE BULLETPROOF.BUY ONE!!(:
THIS IS MY THIRD SENATOR BUT MY FIRST 24V AND I FOUND A MANNUAL ONE THAT HAS NOT CHASED CRIMINALS FOR A LIVING. TRULY A CAR TO BE RECONED WITH AND STILL DOES 25MPG AROUND TOWN. SIMPLY THE BEST.
I have owned a senator 3.0l 12v for the past 7 years and can truly say that it has been the best car I have ever driven. It is such an enjoyable driving experience it will end up being a future classic.Vauxhalls finest car with out doubt.

I like everything about it...dont like where petrol pump is situated also ancilleries are positioned as they collect dirt and salt to cause corrosion But for a large car ..cheap for the luxury you get I payed 2000£ only A wolf in sheeps clothing
An exceptional car with regards to looks, performance and reliability.I have had my 24v for 8 years and it still gives me a buzz to drive it.Recently in Germany I had the speedo reading just under 150 mph and it was still pulling however I was loosing my bottle!!!!! I paid £15250 for mine and it is still the best model I have seen in UK. ONLY THREE PROBLEMS WITH IT TO DATE= 1.cracked sump 2.F/n.s.suspension and 3. air conditioning. Number 2 was fixed under the warranty and 1 and 3 cost a total of £725 to fix. Average fuel consumption to date is 24.9 mpg.
