Took me six years to find a good one, having driven Audi 100's previously. This is a true sporting executive estate. 200bhp through permanent "Torsen" four wheel drive is extremely reassuring on greasy rural roads and snow is no problem with the lockable rear diff.
Very rare sight on the roads, although only superficially different to look at from the 100 range. Parts are sometimes difficult to obtain (mainly those that aren't shared with other Audis) but they are around if you look in the right places and join the Audi Owner's Club for lot's of technical advice. Many parts from Audi dealers are surprisingly cheap. Mine has done 232000 miles so far, with no hint of giving up yet. The turbo engine (codes 1B or MC seem to be the best ones) was over-engineered for the stresses of turbo power so should last and last. It's usually the rubbery bits that fail after the first 200,000 miles but they are easy to obtain. Electricis can sometimes be a problem but usually caused by broken wires, easily fixed.
I intend to keep this car forever, so few of them around I feel obliged to keep it going. Besides, I don't know if I could find another car that had such a big smile factor.
Remember, a 200 is for life. If you find one, make sure you're ready for it.
Owned for 2 years.
