What a great wee car, had her six months and in all that time the only thing that has *failed* is the condenser. However, more pressing matters such as a full brake overhaul have been required, currently sitting on axle stands minus wheels & all braking components :( ah well she's worth it, and what do you expect after 21 years hard graft?!! Hope to have her going for the spring show season, good club scene, and its not often you pull up next to one at the lights! Heh, Mr Merc pays 70 grand for that privelege, I paid £250. Chevettes are sweet.
i bought this car in 1999 as my first car for £95 and have spent around £400 on it since messing about with it. i had to replace the wings as these always go an had to fit fibreglas ones as i couldn't find any decent steel ones. the car will hit a top speed of 95-98mph if pushed really hard, but doindg this destroys the water pump bearings. parts are very cheap from the main dealers as they are all considered obsolete . these are very durable, easy to fix and modify cars. they are also great fun to drive. Buy one for £50, pull the exhuast off and drive it flat out and sideways everywhere! CHEVETTE FOREVER!!!
I got given a chevette 4 years ago, an A reg (1984) saloon. It'd only done 11,000 miles and was sweet. Its now done 44,000 but has never given me any trouble, apart from the front wing rusting right through, now the front headlight is full of water and the bulb is blown. I'm loathed to scrap it cos it still goes really well and It always starts first time. If I can hold on to it for another 5 years it'll be tax free, KICK ASS.

I bought my chevette abot 5 months ago and have now traveled over 6,000 miles in it so far all i have had to buy for it is petrol and a new air freshner. I found it for sale in a newspaper for £450 and it has been worth every penny. If it does ever come to the end of its life i would certainly buy another.

MY A REG ONE HAS NOW CLAPPED OUT AND IVE JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER, THIS TIME T REG, IN BETTER CONDITION. I DID 400 MILES IN IT THE OTHER WEEKEND AND IM PLANNING TO GO TO SWITZERLAND ( AND BACK) IN IT NEXT SUMMER
