Have owned my Freelander 2 for about 18 months now and without problems. Build quality is better than older Landrover models, but not close to Audi or BMW, performance Ok but I struggle to get 30mpg from my TD4 version. A bit concerned that the car has had to be recalled twice for safety issues ? As per the previous reviewer if you are looking to buy and need Bluetooth connectivity with your phone check the Freelander is compatible 1st (there is a list on the Landrover web site). Great for towing.
Good looks, Could go off road,
MPG, Build quality

Freelander 2 TD4
Owned for 1 year.
Bought the new Freelander 2 earlier in the year. Much better than the old version which I'd driven a couple of times. Problem with the built in sat nav after three months which meant a replacement unit - no problem. What was a problem was retrieving the sat nav DVD from the old unit. The dealership were not able to open up the unit to get the disk as it would void the warranty so had to wait for the supplier (based in Japan) to do this and send it back. After two months got feed up chasing so contacted Land Rover customer service who supplied me with a new DVD gratis. Driving experience is good and ride is comfortable. Overall I'd recommend the latest version of the Freelander.
Plenty of torque. Well thought out interior with families in mind
Still behind BMW/Volvo etc on audio/comms. In addition to my sat nav problem the bluetooth system used isn't compatible with a number of pretty common mobile handsets including my Nokia N70.
