Bought new as the last blue one in 1998, my GPz1100 may look a little dated now and there are certainly a large number of lighter bikes around but as a cheap (£2600 for a very low mileage one) allrounder with rock steady handling and a strong engine it takes a lot of beating. My ample sized girlfriend also finds the passenger accommodation better then my K1100LT which seems difficult to believe but the strongest point is the delightful engine which has turbine-like smoothness, perfect gear ratios for long 'holds' and it can see off most things in a straight line. Add a reasonable fairing which will benefit from a higher screen and you have one of the best value-for-money non-depreciating 'fat albert' sports tourers around. Why did I buy the K?
