The 206cc probably improved in 2005. My wife and I have encountered no mechanical problems at all in the eighteen months we've owned this car. Having already depreciated from £14,000 new to around £10,000 it would now be a good bargain on the used car market with relatively low mileage for those thinking of buying. These are fun cars with class.
Only problem encountered is one that is common - the passenger seat adjustment works very illogically and you can end up with the seat sliding forwards and back without locking into any position. Since modified on new 207 models

Excellent folding roof. 3" narrower than the 207cc
No spare wheel carried -can catch you out

What a disappointment!

In theory this is a good little car - open top motoring with the refinement and security of a tin roof and with the option of the powerful 2 litre engine.

This is the most I ever spent on a car, and the car I hated the most. It rattled, and squeaked along the road, with new squeaks appearing faster than the dealer could fix the old ones. This and the squealing brakes gave the car the same air of quality as a 20 year scrapper.

It failed to start one morning at 3am in Heathrow car park after returning from a long and tiring flight. And then after the dealer 'fixed it', it repeated the same trick shortly afterwards. The airbag light kept coming flashing on, and the air conditioning needed recharging after 12 months - something that wasn't covered under warranty.

And then there was the dealer.

Company policy was that whenever someone answered the phone, they had to chant their slogan. "Curry Motors, nice people to do business with. How can I help you". Predictably, they were not nice people to do business with, and being repeatedly told they were was a constant source of irritation.

A painful experience and I was glad to be rid of it.
