I owned a SP for 2 years in the 70's. What a maginificent car. 7.3 Litre V8. Straight thru 4" stainless exhausts - can you imagine the exhaust note! Leather, aircon, cruise - so fully loaded you could never reed all the dials. Fuel consumption? 9-12mpg! Not always too keen to start on cold mornings. I always remember going round the South Circular Road in London one morning on choke, no throttle, at 40mph. The bonnet was asbestos lined and a fire extinguisher fitted as standard for a good reason. When you turned off, the 6 huge carbs spat out fuel which sometimes caught fire. It has been in my garage for 10 years now waiting for the kids to leave so I can restore her!
