For the past 11 years I have driven a Carlton. The first one was 8 years old when I bought it (G Reg) and I kept this for 4 years....I loved it. This made me buy another (L reg) which was 6 years old when it was purchased and which I kep t up until a fortnight ago.again, I loved it! In fact, I loved it so much I hung on to it for far longer than I should have done. Had I been able to buy a newer one, I would have done so but production of them was discontinued after L/M reg. Admittedly both cars were quite heavy on brakes which is understandable given the weight of the car but apart from that, I never had any trouble whatsoever from either of them! They were a pleasure to drive.....comfortable in the extreme and they went like the wind....it was a sad day when it was time to say goodbye. I hadn't planned to part with my 2nd one when I did - it just sort of happened because I was offered a good deal on another car......which happened to be another Vauxhall - this time an Omega! (W reg). I have only had it a fortnight so I cannot really guage what it is like - time will tell but if it ends up being half as reliable as my 2 Carlton's I shall be happy!
