Excellent safe family sailboat. Whilst other posters here say they've only used theirs on lakes I have used mine at sea - on the Menai Straits and in the Bristol Channel.
Never capsized and never ever heard of one capsizing - and of course they have built-in buoyancy

Originally sold as a family dayboat and thats exactly what she is. Very simple rig (usually) gunter. The mast can be stepped one handed!. The keel is a simple vertically lifting dagger board and can be a bit of a pain when manuvering in shallow water. The cockpit design is a bit restrictive, though two adults and 2 kids is OK. Quality of the mouldings and gear is so-so - but these are cheap boats. Sails surprisingly well and is very forgiving. Motoring is iffy, in the wind the flat bottom lets her slide sideways when the dagger board is raised
I wouldnt dream of taking a skipper 14 to sea, but have sailed mine for many years in the lakes, often in totally unsuitable conditions and (so far) never managed to capsize.
Image may be an issue - some yacht club types tend to look down on the skipper as a bit of a toy but I think this tells you more about them than the boat.
Dont pay to much for the boat and have some safe fun.
