Bought Car in 2002, lovely for price, very good interior & exterior. Clean engine, when I bought it it had done 65000 mls, it has now done 84000 to date 07/04/05.
I am now looking to sell it, if your interested give me a call on 07961 831 410 or email [Log in to view email]
Honest oppinion: too cramped in the back, suitable for Single Mum & Young child, or single person or couple. Definetely not family car. When I first bought it, no prombelms for 1 year, then the brakes seized up, which caused about £600 expense, the hub welded itself, and the wheel locked. I would advise a service of evey six months to keep these cars running well.
I replaced Cambelt & Timing Belt, In the winter, when damp I was experiencing a squeeling noise when I would start the car, this would go after 2 mins, this was due to timebelt replacement, needed adjusting.
I experineced the engine overtiking, & car cutting out, this has stopped since I had it serviced & put in a secondary sir pump filter as it was missing, was last serviced in Dec 04.
Gets hot in summer, as there are only two small windows and sunroof.
It might look the part but it really isn't. We've had the car 3 years now and its had more than its fair share of problems. To name a few, the cam belt broke, the driveshaft sheared and we have to replace the rear bearings every 12 months.
Its performance is more like that of a clapped out moggie than a class 10 insurance car.
Theres a nasty blind spot behind the door posts too!!
The only good thing is that it looks nice. My advice, don't buy one unless you have deep pockets.
i bought my tigra in august 02, it was all nice and rosy till january when the brakes just gave up and the pedal was going to the bottom. This was a problem with worn disks leaky drums and need for new pads, in all it cost £600 to fix, i didn't mind that. February- the head gasket at 72000miles decided to go, that cost £700, at this point i was getting very impatiant with it. In May- cam-belt snapped, with that came bent valves and that sort of thing...that is equal to an engine rebuild which will be a cool £1500. In view of this, i have gone out to by an old rover for £400, the tigra will go in my garage until i can afford to fix it.
its a lovely looking car but the price of it as an eye catcher is toooooooo high for me...
Where do I start??? Well I bought my dream car.. a 1996 lil' Tigra,, with all the mod cons.. and thats where the problem started... first of all within two weeks of owning the 'car from hell' something called an "exhaust Gas Return Valve" self destructed under the bonnet leaving me with no car for two weeks and a bill for over £500.. (this was just the start) then shortly afterwards the manifold fell off costing a furthur £150 and another week off the road.. then.. three fan belts and a startermotor later the little tention pully thing as mentioned in lots of other reports also snapped resulting in loads of new little gizmos being smashed to shit in one almighty BANG!! the resulting damage set me back over £700 quid for a complete new set of valves, belts pullies and guards.... (at this point i went out and bought myself a £100 banger out the paper to get around in)(good job) so off i went again... no probs for around two months... then.... you guessed it... BANG!!! this time a bolt holding on the jockey wheels inside the cam belt casing sheard off.... so out came the old banger again..... back in the garage for the 'car from hell' another set of valves, pullies and guards and another £700... more problems were to follow but the list is too long to mention.. so i sold the car (now named Damian) to some punter for £4000 less than i payed for it a year earlier... (the banger is still running as far as i know) My advice DO NOT under any circumstance buy one of these demon things!!!! they are small... impractical... Boring to drive... And they are VERY VERY unreliable..... P.S. I now drive a Ford.. Happy motoring :o)
Work at a car dealer ship and i KEEP BANGING MY BLOODY HEAD GETTING IN TO THEM! No room once u get inside for anyone over 5'8!! and all it really is is a Corsa with a small ugly shell!
Tigra's are an excellent little car, and loads of fun, they really get you noticed! ...Just a shame about the company that manufacturer them!

I've had my 1.6 Tigra for about 18 months. It was only at 45k miles when purchased and is an M reg 95 model. Beautiful looking car, very comfortable, all the extras, but very dissapointed with the upkeep costs! So far I've had to have the immobiliser re set due to a fault which cost £250, a new starter motor, and the latest, a new engine, due to the tension pully on the timing belt snapping. It's caused so much damage to my engine it's unrepairable. The costs for that are approx £1500! I've never had a car that's broken down so much!!!! Don't buy one!
