i owned one of these until someone "nicked" it. The only reason i didnt get another is they had stopped producing them. It was very reliable excellent value and despite all the abuse i gave it it never complained. I currently own an aprillia pegaso and after having it serviced at my local kwaka dealer have been informed that they have decided to relaunch a new and updated kle. Have ordered one, cant say more than that.
i bought mine for $3000Aus (1000pounds) with 30k on the clocks. bike was very reliable until 50k when it would refuse to start every now and then - Has the er5 engine which is easy to ride and gett parts for. the suspension is very soft and my mechanic (a genius)could not find any replacement springs for the forks due to their unique dimensions. when i got my current bike -an RVF400 - i realised that the handling of the KLE is like a jellyfish once the suspension has gone off. the bike is also top heavy and is quite easy to drop as i did several times at very low speed manouevres. (riding through muddy paddocks with road tyres is silly on any bike but especially the KLE) Damage from these drops was minimal - often nothing at all. Comfortable over long distances -but windy. if you are thinking of buying one - offer quite alot less than the price of an ER5 of same quality- that's about what it's worth. After riding my RVF - my last rides on the KLE felt like i was riding an antelope. Luke D Canberra AUS
