Had my FZR250 for over a year now, and the little japanese import still puts a smile on my face. Onyl problems with carby's was two retaining clips coming off, allowing the fuel needle to rattle around and make the bike run like a V-twin. Good opportunity to overhaul the carbs though - also made my own custom K&N air filter - much better with the extra air in conjunction with the japanese carby jets (slightly different for Australian Fuels)
Had my '89 fzr250 3ln-1 for a few months now and absolutely love it! its quick enough to beat the boy racers (and many 'expensive' sports cars) and it makes a great first bike. I havent had too many probs with the carbs but they can be dodgey on fzr250's (its cut out when ive come to a standstill a couple of times now). Its incredible fun, and its great to hear the engine rev when ur nearing the red line (18'500 rpm!). Very good value for money.

Iv been thinking of getting and FZR for a good while now. I have a DT125, and want to try somethignwith a bit more power and sports handling.
However, I have been warned off them, as i was told you can only buy a 6-12 year old Jap import (living in ireland), and apparently the carb causes serious problems with cutting out etc, cause the rubber bits rot on the boat from the sea air.
What a fantastic little bike. Got it for my wife for $1700US in Japan. Not much poke under 7-8k but once it hits it's gone. Corners like mad taking on a CBR600, VRF400, TL1000, and several of the 250 mopeds running around Tokyo. Parts avalibility good in Japan, unknow for the states. Starts everytime without the choke hot or cold. Nearly best grins per dollar investment I've ever made
Owned for 1 year.

Bought mine about 3 months ago. Have had to replace the seals on the front shocks in that time. Mine is a Japanese import and have had no problems with it here in Ireland. I had it checked out by a mechanic before I bought it. He spotted the seal wear and reckoned the bike was perfect.
Owned for 3 months.
