i had so much problems with my lexmarkx84/85,I would have to reinstall this product many times and now it does not want to install anymore.I feel I have wasted my money on this product.
A waste of money, And to dear to run. Ink cartridges are the dearest,and Software is a joke.This is my fourth lexmark,and my last.When i got a replacement 9 months after the first one packed up,Lexmark told me to bin the old one. 3 months later this one is playing up,so i'll bin it and buy a new one, NOT LEXMARK
JUNK! I have the X85 and I ave had nothing but trouble with it. I have updated drivers, unistalled and reinstalled, then updated drivers again and guess what - it still will not work! *Problem communicating with the printer*
Well, this is one of those: "You get what you paid for" things - I will NEVER buy another thing with the LEXMARK name on it.
If Lexmark is to cheap to get their stuff certified to work with microsoft than let that be a lesson to all of us - Do Not Buy Junk From a Junk Company.
Now if you will excuse me I have a printer to tie to the back of my car and drag down the road.
I up graded from model x73 the only reson you can copy from this unit with out computer. as long as you download updated driver for xp and make sure the old drivers as deleted it operates with out any problems & I only paid £73.94 from PC WORLD.COM
Bought this around April of this year. Worked fine for a month or two but since then I constantly have had "Carrier Stall" Communication Error between Printer and Computer. I even bought a new Dell computer and the problem followed the printer when I connected to the new computer.
Thought maybe I was the only one with this problem until I came here
my X85 that's less than a year old now has distorted colors... sometime it doesn't even communicate with the computer without re-booting. I don't like it at all. No help from Lexmark either.
NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE BOUGHT,CONSTANTLY LOOSES COMMUNICATION WITH P.C,+OTHER PROBLEMS TOO.REPLACED COLOUR CART.WILL NOW ONLY PRINT IN B+W.WILL PHOTOCOPY COLOUR THOUGH.PUSH PATIENCE OF A NUN.3 IN 1,IDEA BRILL,WHEN WORKING AS SHOULD END PRODUCT GOOD,SHAME!!AND ANNOYING!!

I am soooo sick of this printer. Every time I use it I have to uninstall and reinstall it it.They (Lexmark) Keeps telling me it is a problem with Windows XP. I don't think so!! It is soo jacked up I can't stand it!!!

My Lexmark 85 has been nothing but a problem. It is now not printing in Black and White. It will print in color only. Have tried calling the help desk but they are not very helpful at all.

Problem with my new X85. Stops communicateing with my computer ,i have followed the instructions to disconnect and restart my p c and even uninstalled and reinstalled but it keeps reacurring usually when i am on line. Help !!

I am writing in response to the refill kit question. The reason Lexmark does not support refill kits is because each ink cart has its own unique print head. When you refill ink cart's you may cause damage to the contacts on the cartridge thus causing damage to the printer. Also, if the ink cart happens to leak or spill into the printer causing any damage this voids your warranty with Lexmark. (I do Technical Support for Lexmark)

I bought the X84 very cheaply in my local department store.
I followed the setup procedure exactly as specified, I.E. set up the drivers/software before actually connecting the printer and it worked first time perfectly.
I have encountered no problems with it at all and I'm very happy with the print quality and speed.
I'm especially impressed with the quality of pictures I print out on it.
The ink cartridges are pretty expensive though, but not anymore expensive than any other Inkjet printer cartridges. However, I'm just going to refill the cartridges and there are several refill kits that can refill the X84 cartridges with very little problems.

I AM UNABLE TO RE-USE A PRINT CARTRIDGE IN THE X85. I WOULD APPRECIATE INFORMATION REGARDING WHAT LEXMARK HAS DONE TO PREVENT ME FROM REUSING PRINT CARTRIDGES.
